Ancient Enchantment in an Online Cottage

The use of herbs and flowers to bring about good or to prune the bad is nothing new. In fact, it's a practice rooted in antiquity and respected as such. There are generally four ways these plants were used: medicinal purposes, dye purposes, teas or other culinary purposes, and spiritual or magical purposes. The last is what The Tiny Cauldron specializes in.

We take great pride in practicing keeping magical herbalism alive by paying respects to the practitioners before us and by charging each product with its intention, be it to bring you prosperity, love, protection, release from negativity, or another intention. Our products go beyond using surface-level correspondences, like rose for love and lavender for calm. Ours stretch into less common yet equally as potent plants: mugwort, vervain, wood betony, skullcap, feverfew, coneflowers, calf's snout, mullein, buckthorn, bellflower, willow, scabiosa, meadowsweet, oak, ash and thorn, to name a few. We also aren't into chemicals, preservatives and fragrances. Our products are scented by the herbs themselves or, rarely, scented using essential oils.

If you're not interested in magical herbalism, that's OK too. Our products showcase the beauty and natural fragrance of herbs and flowers in our everyday lives. And if they happen to bring some magic into yours, that's just icing on the lavender-elderberry cake, right?

Frequently asked questions
Why does my item not have a strong fragrance?

A hedgewitch allows her plants to speak for themselves, and our products are a reflection of Sarah's ideology. Thus, the aromatics that arise from your product are simply a direct result of the herbs themselves.

There are several products that do utilize fragrance oils (and these are sourced from another pagan business). These products include our sprays and any item based in the following intentions: harnessing the moon, harnessing the moon, wisdom, power, cleansing, and free spirit.

Will my products spoil?

Our products are all natural: no preservatives. Simply herbs, oils, salts, gems, beeswax, candlewax, honey, vinegar or water. But natural comes at a cost: shelf-life. We recommend that you use any item within six months. When not in use, keep the item in a cool, dry place with the lid securely on. When in use, keep the lid on and try to eliminate oxygen bubbles in the product by encouraging them to come to the surface. These actions help deter the inevitable rancidity that will occur with oills and organic material.

This is especially true for our sprays, which contain water, a vital component that bacteria need to grow.

A good indicator of rancidity is smell. If the product smells unusually strong or disagreeable, it's time for a change.

How do I use my product?

Oil care: For topical use, apply to the skin and rub in. To burn, place small amount into oil burner. To use as perfume or on-the-go enchantment, dab a little oil on your temples, neck and insides of your wrists. To anoint a candle, apply a small amount to the middle of the candle and rub upward and downward.

Salt care: Sprinkle across door thresholds and gardens, as well as in corners of rooms to protect the area as well as invite your intention. To use in ritual, cast a circle in salt to protect what’s inside.

Sachet Care: Sprinkle sachet herbs onto an altar, doorways, around the home or in the garden to bring about your intention. Carry the sachet with you for enchantment on the go, or tuck under your pillow.

Will my oxymel spoil?

Oxymels are built on preservation; both honey and vinegar are natural preservatives. The oxymel can sit in a dark, dry place when not in use. However, some like to place the oxymel in the refrigerator to help preserve freshness. In either place, this oxymel can last from 1 to 6 months. Oxymels like the Sensuality Oxymel will last around 1 month, as it contains natural vanilla bean paste that holds moisture.

Our oxymels are always made-to-order and made right before they ship out so that you get the most out of your oxymel.

Shake rather than stir, while the dropper lid is on to deter oxygen mixing with the product. Keep dropper lid on at all times when not in use to deter this oxygenation issue as well.

Do you sell internationally?

Yes, but the added price will be reflected in your shipping options.

Do you offer wholesale items (and pricing)?

We do offer wholesale. If you would like to contact us regarding wholesale opportunities, please email us at tinycauldron@gmail.com or use the contact form on our home page.
