About

Welcome to Tiny Crafty Toes! Here I specialize in handmade shoes for the babies in your life! While my shop may be new, my love for crocheting has spanned more than a decade. The idea that yarn can be twisted and pulled through itself to make something new has always intrigued me. I believe it to be a great metaphor for life. By being twisted, turned, and pulled we can become something truly beautiful and meaningful.

We operate a little differently here at Tiny Crafty Toes. It's not as simple as finding a great pattern, trying it, and putting the items for sale in the shop. In fact, it takes months for the items you see to even enter the shop and I'd love to tell you why. When I begin the process of a new item, I start with the pattern exactly as it is written (for those shoes that are based on a pattern). Then I adjust the pattern as I need (sometimes to account for being left handed), typically to make the pattern into multiple sizes. You may have noticed that not every other shop offers sizes in the typical 3 month age ranges like I do here. Once this part is over I send finished items to my product testers to have their babies try them out. That's right, these shoes have been tested by real baby feet to make sure they are comfortable, durable, and able to stay on the foot. If it's not functional I don't want it!

Normally, at this point, the shoes undergo another round of adjustments. This may mean I completely redo the pattern to get the shoe to go higher on the foot (like our entire line of loafers) or I adjust the shoe to fit our size standardized soles. Once I am satisfied the shoes are ready and have been adjusted to our testers' feedback they are photographed and listed as available in the shop.

You might be wondering, "But Lindsey, does this really take months to do?" Absolutely! I want these shoes to be perfection on your baby's feet. To give you an idea, I started compiling our winter boot line in June! The boots were finally ready to be made available in October. That was 4 full months of creating and perfecting.

Making baby shoes is our passion here. As the hands behind Tiny Crafty Toes I want you to be able to feel the love I put into these shoes. I want you to know that if it's not absolutely perfect it won't be mailed until it is perfect. I aim for excellence here, because you and your baby are worth it!
