It All Started With A Toffee Colored Cat...

Well, that's not true at all.

It all started with a different shop. Tiny Felted Bird. The name of my original shop. I sold felted critters. Well, mostly, I listed felted critters and had people ask for custom creatures. I was happy to oblige. It was fun to felt, I highly enjoyed it, and custom work is a lot of fun.

But then I started to notice an intense pain in my wrist when I felted. Eventually, the pain would be there when I woke up, before I had even started to felt. I tried to ignore the little voice in my head, shouting out what I didn't want to hear, but eventually the pain became too much to bear, so I made an appointment with my doctor. He confirmed every crafter's worst fear. I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

The carpal tunnel makes it pretty much impossible to felt, so I had to close up shop. This absolutely broke my heart. I was horribly depressed after getting the diagnosis. All my favorite activities suddenly became to painful to even attempt. I felt like the biggest loser in the world.

And then one morning, my cat, Aeris, was sitting in a peculiar way. It looked as though she was posing. I had to get a picture. I grabbed my camera, and began clicking. When I went to upload the photos, I realized how absolutely interesting they all were. Then I started to look back at all my other photos I had snapped. Photography was always a hidden passion of mine. Fun and beautiful, but I never thought I'd do much with it. I started toying around with editing, and going out with the intent to take nice, beautiful pictures, and more and more I became incredibly pleased with what I was doing.

Photography has been almost therapeutic for me. It's one of the few things I can do without my CTS reminding my how much life hurts. Time soars by without notice when I am editing pictures. Days in the gardens seem much too short when I am there to take photos. It's become my complete passion. My go-to craft. My new love.

And I wouldn't have realized it without my beautiful toffee colored cat, Aeris. She is my muse, my inspiration. And I am very grateful that she has shown my what I can do even with my CTS.

Hi! I'm Emaline! I am the one responsible for all of these lovely pictures! I like adventuring, and documenting that adventure. I am pretty sure that adventure keep you young, and I'm a child at heart.

  • Aeris

Aeris enjoys tuna, napping, and chomping plants in the garden(much to the dismay of Emaline). You can often find her napping in a sunny spot, or in the kitchen stealing her brother Vincent's food.
