Announcement   Hello from Alaska!

Welcome to my shop of wearable artwork in the form of unique hand painted shoes. Here you will find a collection of masterpieces for your feet!

In 2010, I was commissioned by Vans, Inc. to paint shoes for their displays across the country. All shoes are 100% hand painted and designed by myself, original designs at an affordable and fair cost. Better yet, all shoes are durable and wearable in the rain or sun just as you would with a normal pair of shoes. I take special care to waterproof and seal my artwork so it is ready to be shown to the world.

Want your idea on a pair of shoes? I accept custom orders - please review my policies for more information.

I bought these shoes as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend and they arrived on time and wrapped with Christmas wrapping paper. The finished product was even better than the pictures. Exquisite art work and attention to detail! She loves them so much!

About

How It All Started

I have always painted on canvas since I was a little girl, but I never thought to try different surfaces.

The idea to paint on shoes came to mind when my Husband sent me a link to the popular shoe brand, TOMS, because he wanted to purchase a pair for me. I looked at their site and selected a pair that I liked, but I wished that they had more variety. Upon exploring more of what they offered, I saw a section that was dedicated to hosting a "Style Your Sole" party. This is an event to host in your community to allow people that come to purchase Toms and to customize them with paint, glitter, fabric, glue, etc.

Because of this... I truly became inspired to paint a pair of my own. Being an Alaskan at heart, I decided to design a pair with salmon (see it here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/52403819/hand-painted-vans-salmon). I wore them for awhile, getting compliments and testing them out. Since it seemed that people liked them, I thought I may as well put them on my Etsy shop and see how it goes.

4 weeks later I was contact by the marketing director at Vans, Inc. The popular shoe company worldwide for canvas shoes. She had seen my posting on Etsy and asked for me to paint a pair for a display in their store in San Francisco. After sending her my work, she then asked if I would be interested in creating more.

Ever since, I have created several designs that can be found in locations within the US, including Washington DC and San Diego. They also opened a flagship store in Bejing, China and my panda design was showcased (design here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/43455639/hand-painted-vans-pandas).

The Vans opportunity has increased my exposure to the shoe painting world, as well as to more clients. Etsy has been a great tool for me to share my artwork and I hope you enjoy.

Additional policies and FAQs
Custom Shoe Order Policies

100% satisfaction guaranteed during creation process.
To place a custom shoe order, please send me a message to discuss your ideas for the shoes. I am very open to all ideas and will let you know what my capabilities are. Any and all references are preferred such as pictures, sketches, poems, etc. If you prefer to communicate by e-mail or phone, just let me know.

When we agree on the idea and the time frame for shipping, I require a deposit for the cost of the shoes only (This can be found under "Your Idea on a Shoe.”) Once the funds are transferred through PayPal and cleared, I will purchase the shoes and start the painting process. During this time I will be communicating with you on the progress and ask any necessary questions to complete the project. I will also send you pictures of the shoes during the process to be sure that I am painting them correctly and to your expectations. Please be sure to give me the most convenient means of communication for you or the project could be delayed. If you are not a regular user on your Etsy account, I would suggest an e-mail as a reference.

Once you and I agree that the shoes are to your 100% satisfaction, I will then ask for the remaining amount for labor and shipping as agreed upon. There are two ads under the shop section “Your Idea on a Shoe” to where you can place your shoe deposit and the remaining funds required. If the cost of the remaining balance is more then $100.00 for painting, I will make a reserved listing on my shop or ask for a money request through PayPal to your email address. As soon as the funds have cleared, I will ship your shoes.

Returns on custom shoe orders are not permitted, however I do want to make sure that you are fully satisfied! If there is anything you want to change that is not a major element to the shoes (theme, color palette, wording, etc.) then I will work with you. I will not take returns on custom shoe orders if the client were to change their mind; the shoe is not repaint-able and therefore cannot be returned. The exceptions to the return policy would be if I shipped a different design, miss-spelled, shoe size, brand, or the wrong shoe style. In this case, we will agree on what needs to be done as appropriate (full refund, sending correct shoes, repainting, etc.)
