I've had a love for jewelry since I was a small child. My mother tells me I was sifting through jewelry boxes by the age of two and "borrowing" earrings to wear by the age of three. The process of creation fascinates me - from conceiving the design through the fabrication of the piece. Metal is a great pallete for texture and color - both of which I incorporate in my work. I use two color techniques: prismacolor pencil over metal and seed bead mosaic. The prismacolor is applied in multiple layers, sealed with a fixative and finished off with a wax coating. It's sturdy stuff. I ran a pair of Prismacolor earrings through the washing machine by mistake, and there wasn't a scratch on the surface. The beads are hand set and fixed with grout that I color with acrylic paint.
