Originally purchased this bracelet as a gift, but when it came I had second thoughts and wanted to keep it. However, I did give as a gift and recipient loved it. THANKS

Eh. Honestly...i waited about a month for them to come, the owner did throw in a little something else for the hassle, so that was nice. But when they finally came and i put them on, they turned my toes green and the ends of the wires were pretty sharp and kept cutting me. Couldn't wear them for more than a few days. Sorry

Jewelry, My (Current) Drug of Choice

I've always had a creative side of some sort. As a little kid, my sister taught me how to cross-stitch, which I loved to do. I also loved to draw horses (always facing the left side of the paper, now that I think of it...) When I went away to college as a theatre major and realized that I didn't quite have what it took to be an actress, I switched my focus to costuming. Learning to sew was pretty big for me. After I stupidly quit college after 2 years to get married, I quit doing anything creative for a long time (I can say "stupidly" because I was only 20 years old - way too young to get married - and that marriage is thankfully in my past now. Anyway, fast-forward several years to the day I was thumbing through a Sundance catalog. Such beautiful and unique jewelry!! But such outrageous prices!! I decided to teach myself to make jewelry so that I could have my own unique jewelry without paying an arm and a leg for it. I started small, beading and stringing, and before you know it, I was bitten by the jewelry bug. I taught myself how to solder (hard and soft), knot, enamel, work with wire, resin, polymer clay, and metal clay.

In the last four years, I've come through many stages as a jewelry artisan. At first, I refused to use any glass or "synthetic" beads. I was sort of a gemstone snob. :-) As time went by, I learned to see the beauty in glass and other man-made beads. I especially enjoy making mixed-media pieces. The most important thing to me now is to make as many components of each piece of jewelry as possible. I make all of my own ear wires, and almost all clasps. Using polymer clay and metal clay also allows me to make many of my own beads, pendants, and charms as well.

I believe that jewelry is an expression of something; it should be meaningful and unique. With all the talented artisans here on Etsy (and everywhere else, all accessible through the internet), there is no reason to buy cookie-cutter jewelry that looks just like somebody else's.
