The pockets are just what I was looking for, very pretty and well made apron.
I’m the product of immigrants who came to the States in hopes of living the American dream. The youngest of nine children I learned to be resourceful, not wasteful, and self sufficient. In addition to education being my mother’s dream for her children, she also attempted to teach each of her 5 girls how to tend to the home AND be a lady. Each summer my mother selected a project to be taught…one summer it was needlepoint, another embroidery, another crochet. Yet, sewing was year round…she made our clothing…from everyday rompers, to full pinafore dresses. I was the fortunate daughter (my own assessment) to have the talent for sewing. By age 13 I was making my own skirts and dresses… I recall making my own throw pillow…a needlepoint monogrammed R…
Today I am a formally educated career woman. I work outside the home in the field of education and have a sometimes stressful job…but I do love it. Education has been instilled in me and I value how a good education can impact a person’s own self development. I’m pleased that I can help others in their own person development.
And I am a mom : ) of three beautiful, smart and talented daughters. They each have their own personalities, interests and demands. My husband and I have managed to juggle their schedules and enjoy the love and chaos they bring to our lives.
As women, we always advise each other to make sure we have time for self. I follow that great advice… Sewing has been my ME time. I escape from the daily tasks and demands. I create and although it may appear surprising, I relax with sewing. My sewing items had always been for myself or my daughters. I then began making gifts for my friends and family (mostly aprons and tote bags).
2011 was quite a stressful year and by November I found myself with completed aprons with no awaiting recipients. They were products of my stress management regiment. My friends had mentioned ETSY to me and encouraged me to sell my aprons. And so here I am….
Lanie is one of my 3 daughters and together we create ... she is a natural artist with quite an eye for forward fashion. She loves pastel goth and Fairy Kei. You can find her on Tumblr http://pastellette.tumblr.com
