This basket was a custom order, there was great communication with Melissa. The basket is lovely, it 's well made, was well packaged & arrived in good time. Thank you Melissa Anne Maree
I’m Melissa and I create colourful, handmade, crochet cushion covers for Torvaig Designs.
When I was little I spent a lot of time with my Gran and one day (when I was only 4!) she decided to teach me to knit. Unfortunately it was a terrible disaster and I ended up in an awful knot! However I was determined and when I finally discovered crochet many years later, it was the ideal craft for me.
Crochet has such a variety of beautifully textured stitches which I combine with a love of rich, bold colours. The cushion covers I create provide a perfect pop of colour to a room, whether in pairs or as a single throw pillow. Their rustic charm is also designed to compliment a range of fabrics, including tweed and tartan.
If you like the look of a particular cushion cover, but would like a different size, quantity or colour, then please do get in touch.
Thanks for looking!

Frequently asked questions
How long does UK postage take?
All UK orders are sent by Royal Mail 2nd Class, with the option to upgrade to Royal Mail 1st Class at the checkout. Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed is available on request.
Estimated delivery times are 2-3 working days for 2nd class and 1-2 working days for 1st class. Postal times will likely take longer during the busy Christmas period. A parcel is classed as 'lost' by Royal Mail 10 day after its due date.
How long does international postage take?
All non-UK orders are sent by Royal Mail International Standard with the option to upgrade to Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed at the checkout (please choose appropriate country).
Royal Mail estimates the number of days a parcel will take to arrive in the destination country only and not the destination address. For Europe the estimate is 3-5 working days and for the rest of the world it is 5-7 working days. Parcels must then go through customs before travelling to your local mail carrier. Therefore additional delays can occur, particularly during busy holiday periods. Please take this into consideration before you buy. A parcel is not considered lost by Royal Mail until 25 working days have passed.
What is the postage cost for multiple items?
Shipping costs are dependent on weight and dimensions of the items ordered, as specified by Royal Mail. If you buy two cushion covers then obviously the package will be much heavier than a cushion cover and some coasters.
To make sure I can give you the best possible price for shipping, please send me a message before you order. Alternatively, if you purchase multiple items and pay too much towards the postage then I will always issue you a refund on the difference.
My postage costs are based on the price charged by Royal Mail with a modest contribution towards packaging costs. I do not make a profit on postage charges.
Why is postage only available to certain countries?
At the moment I ship to UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, as recommended by Etsy. If you do not live in these countries and are interested in making an order then send me a message and I can give you an accurate quote for postage. It's very likely that I will happily post to your country unless there are custom restrictions that prevent me from doing so.
Who is responsible for custom fees and are there any restrictions?
Customs charges must be paid by the customer so please check your country's pricing policies.
All items sent to countries outside of the EU are sent with a CN22 customs form which identifies the contents of the package and it's value. I am 100% on all customs forms and I am required by law to dispatch the item as 'other' rather than a 'gift' since they are commercial items.
Some countries, including Australia, have restrictions on what can be brought into their country. These restrictions often include wool and cotton therefore there is a small chance that customs officers may decide to open a package. As my items are made from 'highly manufactured' yarns there should be no further problems and the items should pass inspection.
Why are cushions sent without inserts?
35x35cm cushion covers can include a cushion insert if you choose this option at the checkout. Likewise, they can come without insert if you prefer.
40x40cm cushion covers do not come with cushion inserts.
Including a 40x40cm cushion insert with a cushion cover noticeably increases the postage cost, actually making it cheaper for you to purchase your own cushion insert elsewhere. This is a very common size of cushion so you will find them available both online and in well known home stores. It means you can also choose the exact insert you'd prefer - duck feather or polyester!
