Note from shop owner To all my Etsy friends, buyers and sellers, I am so SORRY! I know that my shop has been closed for approximately six months! My journey through this illness has been a long one and, unfortunately, is not yet over. For friends or for those of you who would like to know more, please read on and I will explain as best as I can. Otherwise, please accept my apology. I am hoping to be back soon!

I have had Crohn's Disease since I was 18 years old. I won't go into all of that except to say that I am NOT convinced that these two problems are not connected in someway. This new illness started out as severe migraines, nausea/vomiting, sensitivity to lights, noise, etc. Typical migraines but I did not respond to the medicine. After 3 lumbar spinal taps, 4 hospitalizations, two ER visits, and one surgery, the diagnosis was changed to Pseudo Cerbral Tumor. The high pressure from the Cerebral Spinal Fluid in my Dura (brain covering) was (they believed anyway) causing pressure in my skull - causing the headaches, etc. It was also causing pressure behind my right eye, It was causing the white of that eye to be totally red and it was weeping, bulging and crossing. Since my eyes were not converging, I had double vision. All of which made it impossible to make jewelry! This is when I finally put my shop on hold. The medicine for that particular diagnosis did not help either. More tests were done. I had an MRI that showed I had a fistula - an abnormal connection or a 'tunnel' between two body organs or two parts of your body. In my case, I had one in my skull behind my right eye. The arterial sytem is a high pressure system and the venous system is a low pressure system. My fistula connected an artery to a vein behind that eye. So, by dumping high pressurized arterial blood into a low pressure vein, it was backing up and causing the pressure in my skull. They did surgery again (second time) and put little tiny coils in the artery where the holes were that went into the vein. That earned me a night in the neural critical care unit at U of T! I'm sure that will be several, several thousand dollars. After I came to from surgery, I still had double vision. The doctor was hopeful that the nerve was just irritated from the fistula & from the surgery and over a couple of weeks my eyesight would improve - maybe even correct itself totally! Well, the sad news is it's been 3 weeks now and my eyesight is not only NOT better, it is worse. Well, the eye is no longer red and weeping and the bulging has receded some but it is crossed more now than ever. My doctor does not believe that I will ever regain my eyesight and it also might possibly move to my left eye as well. (By dammning up the fistula behind the right eye it may cause the pressure to just shift and cause a fistula behind the left eye. Although, now that we know what is going on, we can fix it quickly, not over the course of a year. All along my neurologist, my first and second opthamologist and other doctors all said they didn't know what caused it all to happen but not to worry, I wasn't going to lose my eyesight. I was really trying not to be negative but I honestly did not believe them. After the MRI that showed the fistula (on 1/18), my surgeon wanted to do the surgery fairly quickly. None of the other doctors thought the fistula had anything to do with the pressure problems, but my neuro surgeon was adamant that it was causing most if not ALL my problems. So the surgery is done and I am on the mend. I am hoping to get an OttLite with a magnifying glass or a jeweler's head piece with magnifying eye lenses to see if that helps me to see the fine edges in jewelry making. Keep me in your prayers. I really do hope to open back up soon!
Love always,
Lori

About

"We are all of us stars, and we deserve to twinkle!" ~ Marilyn Monroe

Welcome to Touched By God Jewelry Shop. My name is Lori and I am the designer of the unique pieces featured in this online shoppe. I reside in the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains where the beauty of God's creation inspires me eah day. From a young age, my appreciation for the arts, music and my dedication to craftsmanship was influenced by my mother, who was an artist, a musician and a teacher to underprivileged children.

My soul was especially drawn to the music that emanated from the cries of the birds and animals, the flora that swayed in the wind, the drum beat from the crunch of my shoes on the mountain floor, and the mountain people who sang the songs of the hills. Inspired by the beauty that pierced my heart. my joy came from the grandeur of The Great Smoky Mountains as the mist settled between the peaks and the trees that were awashed each Autumn by magnificent colors that could only be fashioned by our Creator. the music of the birds & animals, and the multitude of flora that swayed in the wind. During my daily treks, I learned to see the beauty in all things; the people around me, their spirit, their personalities, their style - including their fashion and clothing, and even the fantastic jewelry that the people around me wore. I began to see their jewelry not only as an accessory that added to their beauty but also to their spirit and their soul. After a trip to the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., I observed the staggering and awe-inspiring Hope Diamond! Weighing in at 112+ carats. the sheer brilliance of the piece was overwhelming. As a young girl, I couldn't help but think how beautiful that blue-violet diamond would look around my neck. Now, as an older woman, I can't help but think how beautiful that blue-violet diamond would look around my neck [cue drum roll and laugh track!] My love for "bling" has not budged! After that encounter, my desire to run my hands through faceted crystal bowls overflowing with cut diamonds and gemstones became one of my life's goals! Could there be a woman anywhere who doesn't want to add that to her bucket list! Playing in the stones seems decadent but wearing them even more so. Sonja Henie once said, "Jewelry takes peoples' minds off your wrinkles!" And I say, "That is always a good thing!"

I have an ecletic style in my design of jewelry. I love simple flirty styles, silly crazy styles and brilliant fine crystal styles. One of my favorite mediums is Swarovski Austrian Crystals. Swarovski is the finest, highest quality crystal on today's market. They have precisely cut facets that exude a brilliant shine in any light source.

I LOVE making jewelry! Every piece is made with love and passion. I make my jewelry in a smoke-free house. Each piece is shipped to you in a beautifully wrapped box ready for giving as a gift - either to yourself or a friend.

As a shop owner, I am happy when you are happy and I want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase. If you have any questions please contact me.

Thank you very much for visiting my store and for your purchases! I am honored by your trust in me and in my jewelry!

Love and Blessings to all,
Lori

Shipping
Unless otherwise requested, I ship all items via United States Postal Service First Class Mail which automatically includes $50.00 insurance and a tracking number. I will add appropriate insurance to any items sold over $50.00. I will ship your item 1-3 business days after receipt of your payment. Except for some special situations, orders placed between 12 noon on Fridays and Sunday night, will not ship until the following Monday, at the earliest.

FIRST CLASS SHIPPING:
By default, I ship USPS 1st Class Mail. The USPS reports that it takes an average of 1 to 3 days for First-Class Mail to arrive at its destination. USPS only includes the time a package stays in transit in their estimations. Packages dropped off at a post office during business hours usually leave that day. Packages dropped off after hours may take an additional day. Distance also plays a factor. Packages sent to inter-state locations may arrive sooner than packages sent across the country.

RUSH SHIPPING:
Etsy now gives Sellers (that's me!) the ability to add customer service shipping upgrades to their shops. Shipping venues and upgrades are dependent to each individual shop. For faster delivery times, during checkout, please upgrade to:

"USPS Priority Shipping Small Flat Rate Box"
This service will provide you with an expected 1, 2, or 3 day delivery time for Priority Mail® shipments. Exceptions apply and delivery time is not guaranteed. Copy & paste this link into your browser, https://www.usps.com/priority-mail/map/, for a map that estimates delivery time to your zone.

OR . . . .
"USPS Overnight Priority Mail Express Flat Rate"
Priority Mail Express is the fastest mail service offered by the Postal Service. It provides guaranteed 1-Day or 2-Day expedited service by 3 p.m. for any mailable matter and includes $100 of insurance coverage. NOTE: While Priority Mail Express delivery is offered 365 days a year in many locations, there is an extra fee for Sunday and Holiday delivery. There is also an extra fee for delivery by 10:30 a.m. My shop does not offer these two options (Sunday/Holiday delivery & receipt by 10:30 am) because this service is available to only certain zip codes/zones and it is impossible for me to know beforehand whether your address qualifies for this service.

EXCEPTIONS:
Some packages may take longer to arrive due to mailing delays. USPS does not operate on Sundays. USPS also recognizes federal holidays. The post office will hold packages in transit on a holiday. Occasionally, USPS experiences a backlog, especially around peak times such as Christmas. These backlogs may cause packages to arrive after the estimated time. Weather delays may also play a factor. While USPS delivers in bad weather, severe weather and national disasters can prevent mail from reaching affected areas.

HOLIDAY SHIPPING:
Please remember that shipping around any holiday can be VERY unpredictable and Priority Upgrades are recommended to ensure faster delivery times!
Additional policies and FAQs

In each shipment, I include care instructions that are pertinent to your particular type of jewelry. Please follow these instructions to extend the life of your handmade jewelry!
