Tracy Ong and William Ngo

About

A New York City-based pair with backgrounds in Interior Design and Architecture collaborating in jewelry design and objects for the home.

Separately, Tracy Ong and William Ngo both came to New York City for design school. Prior to becoming an Architect, Will studied at the Graduate School of Architecture at Columbia University. Before beginning her career as an Interior Designer, Tracy received her training at Parsons The New School for Design.

On a planet with over 7 billion people and in a city with over 8 million, the two found each other 6 years ago with a common appreciation for design. Later, TO+WN DESIGN was formed as a collaboration between the two, with design projects ranging from large high-rise office buildings in Asia to small exhibit spaces in New York.

While their largest project was undergoing construction, TO+WN DESIGN launched their smallest project in Summer 2014. "The World is Your Oyster" is a jewelry collection with three interpretations of our planet realized as a single pearl bead. "Globe" was developed based on the pair's love of travel. "Atlas" spoke about the burden of fashion and being judged by an individual's choice of style. "Hands" subtly hints at the delicacy of our planet with the pearl delicately cradled.

Borrowing from the roof-scape of water towers across the city, the team launch pieces from their first Home Collection with "Water Towers". The collection consists of three water towers of varying sizes. Each is 3d printed in their studio and designed to contain soil and grow wheatgrass. The project attempts to overlay the warmth and beauty of nature with traditional icons of urban architecture.

TO+WN DESIGN continues to operate in and be inspired by New York City.
