About

I create art for the modern naturalist looking to inject a little colour, pattern and optimism into their lives.

/// How I Got Here
I grew up wanting to be a scientist. I spent my high school years taking every science and math class I could. I was good at math, I enjoyed exploring the natural world and experimenting in the lab was fun. It seemed like the perfect fit for me, but deep down inside I had this small longing to run to the art department.

After high school I did what all kids do, what their friends do, and I went to university to study Marine Biology. Turns out, I hated it. I wanted to appreciate nature, not study and dissect it. My second year of university was spent on a journey of self discovery followed by a year of traveling. Traveling solo gave me the chance to get to know the shy young girl I was, and grow beyond her, into the confident young woman I longed to be. With that new found confidence, I got accepted to Alberta College of Art & Design and I came back from my trip, focused, energized and truthful about my desire to create.

Art college was a steep learning curve but one that I loved whole heartedly. I decided to focus on Graphic Design, a happy medium between my analytical and creative halves. But, by my third year, I realized I didn’t want a happy medium, I wanted to jump full face into the creative and switched my major to illustration. After graduating I felt positive about what the world could provide but again felt the need to do some solo travel to push me forward.

Three months in South America took me out of all my comfort zones. Not knowing the language proved to be a bigger obstacle than I thought, but I still managed to muddle my way through. I came back from the Southern Hemisphere with wider eyes, more ideas and no clue where to start. But start I did.

Fast forward to today and I am an artist running a creative business. I aim to provide people with art pieces that help people individualize and create inspiring places/spaces within their world. I believe our everyday environments impact our attitudes. A moment of beauty upon waking can set you up with a positive outlook for the rest of the day, which intern can help make the world a better place, little by little.

/// Where I Want To Go
I strive to run a successful business selling art pieces that make a positive impact in people’s lives. I would also like to create large scale fiber sculptures for public spaces, allowing my work to impact an entire community as well as the individual.
