Simple and Sustainable Home Goods

With an interest in baking, knitting and sewing I created traceytoole designs. A line of aprons, napkins, and other housewares. All made of sustainable natural, fabrics. In 2016 I started a new brand called McGowan Mercantile. Making vintage inspired, sustainable products. My grandmother was Molly McGowan, first generation Irish American. She passed away in 1937. I found a photo of her wearing a long, used looking apron and she was holding my father. Commonly used fabrics at this time were cotton, canvas, flour sacks. A picture says a 1000 words. From this McGowan Mercantile was born.

Handmade in Brooklyn, New York.

After 15 plus years in the garment industry I craved something different. I wanted an apron that looked casual cool. I wanted cloth napkins for my own kitchen because paper seemed such a waste. I made my first set of napkins in 1997. Still making.
