The Day I Became A Treasure Hunter
It all started that fateful day, fourteen years ago, with a box full of beads and a few tools that I knew nothing about. My goal was to make a simple gift for Mother's Day (Hi Mom!) and what happened next, I couldn't have predicted.
I was hooked.
From then on, all I could think about was making, creating, designing jewelry. I started with the cheapest materials and practiced, and used my family as guinea pigs. A lot. Thankfully, my Mom and sisters never told me my designs were junk even when they weren't that fabulous. Over time, I couldn't be satisfied with cheap materials, I started longing for semi-precious and precious and sterling and gold.
Soon after this, I began finding treasures, and treasures began finding me. Kitschy costume jewelry, old brooches, rhinestone pieces, clip-ons, all things vintage and fabulous. I was salivating with creative juices.
Fast forward to today. While I still love to use real, precious metals and stones, I also love to use vintage. Often, when the two come together, it's like "Shazaam!"
I have an excitingly chaotic life, seeing that I am attempting to home-school my kiddos, all five of them. How I make time to design jewelry is a mystery to me, but for the fact that I have these girls who love jewelry. The supplies come out and the girls come running.
