About

Hand collected, and crafted, authentic sea glass creations, no 2 the same!! All made with local Vancouver Island sea glass!

One of my fondest memories growing up in Ontario, was when my Aunt and Uncle would take me to the beach. I would search the shore for beach glass, and always go home with a my pockets so full!

When I turned 19, I decided I wanted to live near the ocean. I gave my two weeks notice at my job, packed a suit case full of clothes, and bought a plane ticket. When I arrived in Victoria I was hooked! How could you not be! This island is paradise.

It wasn't long until I was back on the beach, treasure hunting again, but this time, Sea Glass!!!

A few years passed, and I met my now husband, and added 2 children to our lives. I am so grateful to be able to take them to the beach and share one of my favourite hobbies together!!
My son, who is almost 9, has become quite the treasure hunter (I hate to say he might even be better than me and my "old lady eyes" as he sometimes likes to teases)

There are even time's when he will find a piece of sea glass that is extra amazing, that he is willing to part with, and I will purchase it off of him. It is a great way for me to teach him about running a buisness and saving his money.

My kids and I spend many hours at our local beaches, here on Vancouver Island, sourcing our sea glass. After we collect it, we take it home for sorting and polishing. Occasionally, I leave the the glass unpolished, to keep the natural salt water look, but most jewelry and decor items look better when the colours shine through, after a little shine.

What is sea glass?

It starts off as glass that ends up in the ocean. It could have been anything. Bottles, cups, dishes, windows, even glass from old shipwrecks! The possibilities are endless really.

Sea glass endures a journey like no other! It is tossed and broken in the crashing waves day in, after day out. Sea glass is made with more than just sand and surf. Salt water also has a pH balance accompanied by the element of the sun, which aid in the break down of glass. This is why you will not find the authentic glass etchings on fake sea glass that has been made using a rock tumbler. This is because it isn't just salt that creates the desirable sea glass frost, but actually the decomposition of the glass itself. The end results after years (20-50 plus), is an extraordinarily smooth, well rounded piece which replaces the once sharp, jagged and broken piece.

It really is a beautiful metaphor for life itself!

These pieces wash up on shore, and create the ultimate treasure hunt!

Some pieces are more rare than others, depending on colour, shape, and pattern.

In 2015 I began making creations out of my buckets of sea glass. I love spending time at the beach, and it felt like a shame to not share my treasures in a crafty way! ♡ I feel very blessed and grateful to be beginning my first online shop! ♡

My 9 old has been know to find some pretty amazing sea glass. From time to time, I will source my glass directly from his collection. It is a great way to teach him all there is to know about money, and buisness.
