Following dreams on a old Enfield motorbike.

I am a British jewelry designer, based in the U.K. But I spend much of my time in India, with my husband, Scott, who is also an artist but prefers to express himself with paint and canvas. India, for us anyway, is such an amazing country, full of colour, drama, beauty and creative energy. It constantly fills me with ideas and inspiration, which I hope shows in my work. Also, in India, we can get amazing stones at incredible prices which I can offer to you, beautifully set in many of my one off, unique creations.
I am Ashima Chambers, the founder of the company and the designer and creator of all of my jewelry. No factory processes are used at any stage! All products listed are designed and hand made by me, Ashima.
In 2002 Scott and I packed our bags and went off travelling to India in search of some adventure and for me anyway, a British born Indian, a glimpse at my Indian roots. We travelled around from North to South, from oceans to mountains on an old ‘Royal Enfield motorbike’. Finally ending up building a house in the Northern Mountains, the Indian Himalaya, high above the Holy Village of ‘Vashist’ at over two thousand meters above sea level in an area full of Ancient Rituals and old stony temples, Gods and mysterious tales all hidden amongst vast mountains reaching into the sky and shrouded in snow. It was during these adventures that we drove through and more than likely broke down in the city of Jaipur in the deserts of Rajastan, West India. Here my passion for gem stones began as Jaipur was not only steeped in history but was and is ‘The World Capital for gem stones.’ The’ place to find every gem stone from anywhere in the World. It is quite truly the ‘market of treasure’ where you can get anything from Diamonds, Emeralds, Rubys and Sapphires to Rose quartz, Amethyst, Garnet and a whole host of cheaper stones.
If you ever go to Jaipur you will soon know what I mean as you see the shops all filled with glittering jewelry and shimmering stones. In Jalhori bazaar you will find streets lined with colourful and often, vocal, characters selling ‘gemstones’ displayed out in front of them on a piece of cloth. Some are real and some are fake. A gem jungle! If you’re buying stones, you really need to know your stuff! If you don’t then take care, it could be a big gamble with the odds stacked against you! Soon after, I began doing some research on stones and learning some basic macramé techniques. A year later I returned to Jaipur, armed with at least a little knowledge and purchased a handful of the cheaper types of gem stones. My jewellery career had started! I had a lovely selection to get started and so with these stones and some silver balls and nylon thread I made my first necklace and gave it to one of my friends as a birthday present and much to my delight, she loved it. From there on there was no turning back. I took a course in silversmithing and bought some basic tools to take up to our house in the mountains ,which is now our base in India, a home, art studio and silver workshop all in one. Between here and London I spent the next years until now making jewelry and improving my skill. I love the whole process from design to finished item and find my mind goes into a sort of meditation while I’m working. The stones also have these wonderful energies which can be felt when you’re handling them. I can sit around for hours looking at the various stones, a collection which has now become somewhat larger and more extensive than my humble beginnings, picturing them in various ways and combinations of colour and cut and weather to set in a ring or necklace and so on.
I work now with 92.5% Sterling Silver, brass, Precious and semi - precious gem stones, pearls, fossils, leather, and macramé.
I take my inspiration from nature. Living and working 2300 meters above sea level and far from any roads and a forty minute climb above the nearest village, nature is in no shortage and I can continue to use this wonderful energy and surroundings to create unique pieces of jewelry.
I have been currently working on some designs I call the’ Bubbly Collection’. Inspired by the morning dew I would watch resting on flower petals, perfectly placed and creating beautiful bubble effects. Watery blue drops against the vibrant fiery cherry red petals and lit with the chilly first rays of morning sun. A truly Heavenly sight indeed!
I hope you enjoy my new collections and feel the wonderful healing energies of the stones and mountains where I made the pieces. There’s always one made just for you!

Scott is also an artist, he gives me creative criticism on my designs and tells me if he feels the colours clash or if the piece is to heavy etc.. It is always nice to have another opinion, to make sure the piece works or can be improved.
