Announcement   I am a glass artist who works in both fused glass and stained glass. My educational background in science is evident in my unique choice of subjects, which may include anything from insects, fish, and trilobites; to protozoa, planarians and viruses. Though my art is stylized, I pay particular attention to scientific details and embrace the vivid colors found in nature. I try to find and incorporate humor when I can, whether it’s with the crossed eyes of a two-headed planarian, or the absurdity of a serving dish covered in cockroaches, or with a “bioluminescent” light bulb on an anglerfish. Most of all, Trilobites make me smile. I hope my glass creations make you smile.

Jane did a fantastic job with our commission. The works were wonderfully done, and she did a few test pieces to make sure it was what she wanted. She really paid close attention to getting the science of it right in addition to crafting a beautiful work of art.

Someone once said ”all children are artists, until someone tells them zebras can’t be purple”

Sometime late in my childhood, I was told zebras can’t be purple and for a time I lost the joy of creating art. I was fortunate, however to re-discover purple zebras as an adult.

As I create my glass pieces I always try to remember the purple zebras. This means banishing all thoughts of “right” and “wrong” and remember only “does it make me happy?” and “does it make other people happy?”
