About

A look towards Japan

I can't stop myself to add some japanese details in my everyday life : food, deco, Japan sounds, travels...
I discovered ceramic through the japanese cuisine. In Japan, ceramics are much more present than anywhere else ! And when I read a Murakami Haruki's novel, I decided to start pottery courses. I loved it so much that I quitted my designer job and started a 1 year full time training in a pottery studio near Paris.

Tsukumogami is born from this little beginning of an adventure ! It's my small ceramic studio near Paris where I work in a magical atmosphere, inspired by My neighbor Totoro.
There, I create tableware and small deco pieces, evocating japanese folklore and landscapes.
By the way, a Tsukumogami is a yôkai, a japanese supernatural creature, just like Tanuki, Kappa, Tengu are. These creature are commonly tools and housewares that have reached their 100th birthday and thus become alive and self-aware.
I dream that pieces I create will, one day, have their own soul and will become alive around 100 years old !

All ceramics are handmade by myself at the studio. They are microwave and dish washer proof.
I create only unique pieces or small batches. But, if a piece is sold out and if you are convinced that it must be yours, just contact me ! We never know, yôkai are mischievous and sometimes they are hidding in the studio's nooks !

I also heal ceramic pieces with kintsugi restoration. It's a japanese technique, using lacker and gold. Some bargain hunted pieces are repaired and available on this Etsy shop. They all are unique. Once sold out, I can't make another.
These pieces are NOT microwave and dish washer proof. Also, avoid boiling water when using them.

If you enjoy my creations and my small yôkai world, please follow me on Facebook and Instagram !

Thank you for passing by,
Eugenie

My passion for ceramics is born with my deep love of japanese cuisine and lifestyle. When I tried working clay for the first time, I couldn't imagine living without it anymore.

Frequently asked questions

Sizing details

All the ceramics saled on this shop are handmade. Dimensions may vary a little bit on each. However, I carefully make my creation as close as possible to the dimensions specified in the item's informations.

Maintenance

Please, read carefully the item's informations you plan to buy. A lot of them are dishwasher and microwave safe, but some aren't, due to a specific glaze. However, a gentle handwash will always be better !
For all items, if you have some chips or cracks due to an intensive use and/or maladroitness, please avoid dishwasher and microwave. Wash gently by hand.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All creations are carefully packed. The packaging is designed for fragile items and I always put a "fragile" sticker on the package.

I use some beautiful papers to wrap the item, then I add some blister wrap. You can offer it directly after receiving it.
You can ask for a special hand written note, for free. However, "This is a gift" option will not provide a special gift wrapping.

I never put the invoice in the package, you can find it on your Etsy user account or in your order validation's e-mails.

What if my order is broken ?

When receiving your order, please check that the package is not damaged nor open, and the creation inside is not broken.
Contact Tsukumogami within 3 days, and send all the damage pictures you can. Depending the situation, a full or a partial refund will be considered.

Delivery

Delivery is done by Colissimo in France, and Colissimo then your local postal service for the rest of the world.
All the packages have a tracking number you can use on www.colissimo.fr then, when the package arrive in your country, on your own postal service's tracking website.

Just like you, I check your package travel until delivery.

Please, check (and check again) the address when ordering. Tsukumogami is not responsible if your postal service can't deliver your package.
Also, Tsukumogami is not responsible if the package is not picked up on time and comes back to the shop.
