We make quality heirlooms in the swamplands of North Florida.
We work with high impact acetate frames and veneer wood, by hand, to create an unique and durable pair of sunglasses. We also make Adventure Utensils, #tinyknife charms and miniatures, modern and locally sourced wind chimes and other rad stuff for our kindred spirits. Doug has a background in furniture building, veneer work and an assortment of mechanical and technical experience. Beca has worked in the film and TV industry but found a career as a pastry chef prior to co-founding our small business Tumbleweeds Handcraft - now known as Black Springs Folk Art.
In 2011, we both quit our full time jobs to keep up with the demand of our sunglasses orders. We've handcrafted over 12,000 sunglasses in the last 4 years and have recently decided to focus on small batch, one of a kind collections, while adding home goods and apparel to our shop. It was so hard to keep up with the growing demand for our work, that after years of working on a backlog, we have recently begun to make the switch to ready to ship items. It's a slow process but we're dedicated to making the transition!
You'll find us in the wood shop most days, but when we're not working hard to get orders filled and create new art, we're stomping through the swamps, traveling in the van with our dogs or drinking coffee next to the river.

Returns and exchanges
Production: Every item in our shop is handcrafted by the two of us in our Florida studio. We value craftsmanship and quality over speediness and quantity, a lost art in our fast paced society. For all items marked as "made to order" or "custom" please expect a flexible turnaround time. All orders for "ready to ship" items should expect a 5 business day lead time for packing and processing orders. Some items are still available for pre-order and should expect a 8-10 week production lead time for those items. If you have any questions about where your order is on the production line, or the status of any order placed, please use the below contact form, and please include your order number and any important information (like a change of address or specific date you need your order by) and we will do our best to accommodate.
Defects/Exchanges/Returns: Unfortunately at this time we can not accept returns for refunds. You may return an unworn item in original packaging within 7 days of receiving for store credit only (shipping costs will be deducted from store credit, buyer responsible for return shipping costs.) If an item is defective within 30 days of receiving, you may contact us for replacements/repair. We will replace on a case-by-case basis and often we need to see the original item to determine the level of repair/replacement.

International orders are shipped usps priority mail only.
Holiday Shopping Information: All orders placed before Noon EST December 15th will arrive before Christmas Eve. Any orders placed after the 15th cannot be guaranteed by Christmas. Please note "Ready to Ship" Items can be purchased domestically until Noon Dec 21st with USPS priority shipping to arrive by Dec 24th.
International holiday orders must be placed by Dec 3rd and will only be shipped USPS Priority (6-10 days).
