Witchcraft Subscription Boxes, crystal healing jewelry and witchy supplies.

I started making witchcraft items myself aged 13, because I couldn’t source them from the Internet due to my age. The closest physical metaphysical store was a town away, and sold mainly tumblestones and angels.

When I could finally start to purchase witchcraft items online at age sixteen, I was in for a big shock.

I couldn’t find ANYTHING I wanted. From the big stores to the handmade, it was a veritable wall of generic candles, herb starter kits and angel wings. Which is fine, but the stuff I lusted after in spellbooks and how-tos was nowhere to be found.

My family has always been DIY fanatics on both sides, both out of necessity and later out of sheer joy for making something yourself.

I carried on making my own witchcraft items, taking inspiration from old spellbooks and manuscripts, and later blending that traditional way of working with the new forms of witchcraft spilling out of the internet. I’m now 23, having sold items or services off Etsy since my teen years. I’ve been on Etsy for four years now, and I’ve loved every second of it. There is an amazing community of witches here, and I feel I’ve found my place.

The world is not the same as it was, and whilst the old frameworks certainly work, the details have changed. We have access to different things and experiences and problem than our ancestors did, and it’s time our magic changed to reflect that.

That blending of traditional magic and modern psychology, neurology is something I’m passionate about - but I’m also very aware that any magic must be able to solve these perhaps uniquely modern problems. As we depend more and more on the Internet, as cities grow ever larger and politicians once again fail to save our planet and steal from the poorest and most disadvantaged to further their own ends, we must save ourselves.

Here’s my way of helping.

---

I work on a messy desk, because when there’s magic to make, who cares about all the tape everywhere? I make things in batches, by hand or by an ordinary sewing machine, occasionally pressing a coffee grinder or die-cutter into service.

I source from my local environment wherever I can. Herbs from the garden and from the surrounding wetlands, from local businesses whenever possible, and well managed UK suppliers as best I can. All the fabric in my business is upcycled from textiles otherwise destined to be sent to landfill. A lot of the other craft supplies are sourced from charity shops, or other crafters.

Everything is made in a smoke free home, and the cats are banned from the workshop. But it is hard to ban a cat. They still appear from the shadows late at night when you thought they were outside.

I write many, many witchcraft articles and tutorials which you can find on my blog: www.siobhanjohnson.com
