Thanks for stopping by!
Most of the wood used to make the pieces you see have been sourced from various remodeling projects around the Seattle area. Through planing and re-surfacing the old wood is given new life. My goal is to produce useful items from that which would otherwise wind up in the waste stream.

Only water based low- VOC stains, and plant derived oils are used to finish the products shown. I prefer the use of quality solid color stains to add color to projects.
As opposed to paint, the stain actually penetrates into the surface of the wood, allows the wood to breathe and helps prevent any peeling or cracking. It also allows the grain/ texture of the wood to show through much better. The teak oil blend I use is made with high quality tung oil which comes from the nuts and seeds of the Tung tree, native to Asia. It also penetrates the wood, is highly resistant to moisture and does a great job bringing out the natural color of the wood.

Please note: Because the birdhouses are built of recycled natural materials the actual color and wood grain of the unstained portions may differ slightly from the photos due to the varying natural properties of wood. No two pieces of wood are exactly alike. Don't worry though as each piece is hand selected to ensure optimal appearance and quality.
