We started our home business of making soy candles in Maryland in 2009, and we moved to West Virginia in 2011. We are both officially retired but still working at local part-time jobs and of course on our home-based candle business.

Twilight Candle Shop has now been a part of our lives for over ten years. We display our products at festivals, arts & crafts shows, and sell from our own website along with our Etsy shop. We have placed a variety of our candles in retail shops around our newly adopted mountain state of West Virginia.

I think the idea of making soy candles resonated especially with me since I made candles back in the 1970s, long before the process of manufacturing candle wax from soybeans was developed. Then I would chip away at a big chunk of paraffin to melt and pour unscented layered candles in old milk cartons.

Soy wax has given us the ability to enjoy the peaceful glow and scent of a slow burning candle without polluting the indoor air with harmful and irritating fumes from paraffin. We stock a large variety of "body-safe" fragrance oils, which means they are the same fragrances considered safe for soaps and other skin products. We have expanded our line of products to include both soy and coconut wax candles that are scented only with essential oils. We also have developed a candle making kit with basic equipment for a beginner "chandler" along with complete instructions based on our own learning experiences over the last ten years.

We are still a small, home-based business, and we care about each and every customer. Our quality control is personal, and our prices are fair. Welcome to our shop, and we hope you will enjoy selecting and trying out some of our products!
