The skyline series, are architectural & nature based photographic transfers overlaid with original paintings.
The photographs go through a photo transfer process which lends them a moody texture. I then add hand-painted details to the images to highlight the unique features of the photo transfers.

5 out of 5 starsTwozdai is a wonderful artist who uses landmarks from my hometown in a lovely modern way. I love the metallic paints as well as the composition of her pieces! I have this original plus several of her greeting cards which I purchased at the Chihuily museum gift shop at the Seattle Center. Thoroughly recommend her work! It's beautiful.

Skylines
For years I was fascinated by how power lines and buildings intersected each other, the sky and nature. I started collecting photos of these views where ever I went.
When I learned how to create photo transfers with photo copies and acrylic on canvas, the organic and gritty result had me hooked and it perfectly matched the essence of these images I had been collecting, and the skyline series was born.
Of course I love color, so I couldn't leave the black and white transfers alone. I took direction from the hand tinted photos of old, and added color and details back into the images to help enhance and bring to live the richness of each image.
The combination of the transfer process and hand painting guarantee that no two original transfer paintings are the same, each is unique in it's own right.
At first I thought there was nothing better than being able to combine my love of painting and photography, with a touch of city archiving in the mix. Then the stories from others, and their memories and connections to these buildings, signs and moments captured, started to roll in. I was dumb founded and honored to hear and hold each of these stories in turn. I am continually honored to have these stories and memories shared with me.
I started this series for myself, I continue it from the love of the work and to honor the memories that these images hold for others.
I'd love to hear how you connect with these pieces.
Thank you!

I learned to draw with a scribble game my mom had us play to keep us content in the car during road trips. It helped me see images in chaos and creativity in in all aspects of every day life.
