Timelines may fluctuate dependent upon revisions, pace of project and pace of communication feedback. Tying the Knots reserves the right to deem a project to be eligible for Expedited or Rush timelines.

If client makes any subsequent changes after the printing window has commenced, a new print timeline may need to be implemented. In some cases, paper will need to be purchased and ordered one month in advance such as 500gsm cotton and/or deckle edge handmade papers. Tying the Knots reserves the right to deem a project eligible for Expedited or Rush timelines.
7. Custom Design vs Completed Design
Custom Design of any kind requires a custom artwork design fee, plus the cost to print. Custom design examples are painting a venue to add to a custom map, painting a landscape to add to a custom invitation, custom crests and monograms, etc. Completed Designs have already been painted and the only changes we can make to completed designs are in the form of text, font and sometimes layout and sky color changes.
8. Design forms *details settled after 10am mst, timeline will start the following business day.
Custom design and Completed design work begin after the design form has been submitted. It may be helpful to submit multiple forms at once, however, Tying the Knots works on one design at a time. Some forms have multiple design inspiration file uploads for you to describe your vision with clear, specific images of what you would like created as well as a text box for you to explain your vision. We work on one vision/design/direction at a time. If a client changes their vision/design/direction, we are more than happy to start over after client fills out and submits a new form with a new timeline. Please note, Tying the Knots will not be held responsible for delayed timelines if the design form is incomplete, vague or changes direction.
9. Revisions *details settled after 10am mst, timeline will start the following business day.
For Custom Design, requested revisions are during the pencil proofing process, before adding the watercolors. After client has approved pencil proof, and subsequently asks for changes after watercolors have been added, a new proof with a new timeline will most likely be required.
10. Editing/proofreading
Although we do our best to scan each card throughout the creative process for any errors, Tying the Knots does not employ editors to proofread text or double check dates or text that have been submitted by clients. Please note that you are responsible for all text and date accuracies as well as approved layout aesthetic and Tying the Knots is not responsible for typos or aesthetic spatial errors/inconsistencies/disapproval due to client or artist error after you have approved final proofs.
11. Samples
As an industry standard, we do not mail a sample of your invitation suite once your designs are finalized. We mail all signed clients a non-customized sample collection of our papers, layout and envelope samples before we start designing so you can get a feel for these options in person.
12. Original artwork
Custom Artwork designed for your wedding will be available to future clients with a similar aesthetic. All original artwork stays in the studio. If you would like the artwork we design for you to stay exclusive to your wedding, please let us know before starting your project. Exclusive designs start at $325, each 5x7, in addition to the initial estimate. Original artwork will be mailed after your wedding takes place. Copyright does not transfer with the exclusive design package or any purchase of any kind.
13. Reprints
Reprints requested after our original printing timeline has commenced are subject to a $125 reprint fee. Standard 2-week timeline will start anew with each new print order placed by 10am MST. Reprints can be expedited at our client’s request for an additional fee.
14. Envelopes
Because printing timelines evolve and although we try to keep envelopes thoroughly stocked, we cannot guarantee that the envelope color/size you initially chose will be available at the time of your printing. Rarely, our envelope manufacturer can run behind on production and/or shipping may be delayed, which in turn creates a limited supply of what we carry in the studio. Mailing envelopes before the printing of our project is available upon request and may be subject to an additional $50 fee plus applicable shipping.
15. Shipping
We cannot assume responsibility once your package leaves our hands. Shipping is not included in your estimate and/or contract and is a separate fee or fees that will be determined according to your carrier preferences, weight, and size. Our recommended shipping carrier is FedEx. Shipping delays are inevitable. To avoid a missing package the week of your wedding, all items need to be finalized 10 days before your wedding date or sooner. If this cannot be achieved, Tying the knots will print and mail what has been completed and approved thus far at no later than 10 days before your wedding.
16. Personal aesthetic
Because we work with our clients remotely, we do not have the opportunity to get to know you as well as many other people involved in the wedding process. Although we specialize in artistic design, we will not know what the perfect aesthetic for your wedding stationery will be and cannot assume to know which size/color/layout is right for your project as each client has a different and wonderfully unique vision from the other. We are more than happy to open that line of communication at your request. For in-depth, personalized direction with valuable insight into specific details that align with your wedding aesthetic, many clients consult wedding planners who can advise their clients in person and in greater detail than we can with our limited digital correspondence.
17. Line of communication
We understand that with some projects, many passionate voices would like to be heard. Understandably, this can create some confusion and congestion in the overall flow of a project with multiple emails and/or calls from multiple people and wedding planners with the possibility of conflicting ideas. We ask that our main line of communication be with the same, courteous person for the duration of our project. We understand that weddings can be incredibly stressful. If the overall tone with a client becomes unkind, demanding, or untypical we may need to carry on with another individual or deem the project inefficacious and therefore terminated.

18. Digital files
Are available with the Unlimited Custom Artwork Design + Digital projects, only.

19. Copyright
Tying the Knots retains copyright to its illustrations, and all original artwork created for you as a result of this agreement. To the extent any such work may be deemed to be on commission by you and a work for hire, you hereby agree that Tying the Knots, and not you, shall be the owner of the copyright. You agree that for any reproductions of such works, other than those explicitly approved in writing by Tying the Knots, digital or physical, you shall pay Tying the Knots $1000 for each design, as well as the same print price as outlined in our correspondence and/or contract and/or estimate plus 50% for each copy made and that failure to report and pay such charges shall be deemed a breach of this contract. You also agree that should Tying the Knots prevail in an action for breach of contract of this provision, you will be liable to Tying the Knots for its attorney’s fees and costs in prosecuting such a case, in addition to damages from the breach.

20. Abandoned projects
Design work that has commenced via email correspondence, and/or pencil/watercolor proofing, is valid for up to four weeks without notification of a hiatus from client. If we do not hear from you during this 4-week window, our project may be deemed idle and/or abandoned and may be considered completed and marked "shipped" through the original listing.
21. Project hiatus
Because supply costs naturally increase over time, clients that have requested a hiatus from our project for longer than three months may be subject to a new estimate cost sheet which will reflect current pricing which may result in an increased estimate and/or total due.
22. Checking in
To give each of our clients the attention custom design work demands, we cannot check in on clients that have delayed communication. This includes but is not limited to a hiatus from our project due to clients’ leave of absence such as work trips, vacations, family or personal matters, etc. We work with sensitive timelines every day and need to keep deadlines with all clients’ scheduled projects including communication, design, printing and shipping logistics. If we do not hear back from clients in a timely manner, we cannot assume responsibility on checking in on these projects that will be delayed as a result. If projects are delayed due to lack of client communication Tying the Knots will not accelerate timelines without expedited fees and associated timelines.
23. Privacy
Please let Tying the Knots know immediately if we should change your names and or dates to protect your privacy in the case that we share any designs as examples of custom work in our studio and or social media. Throughout our design process, we may feature some of our current projects (such as yours) on social media. Please let us know if you would rather we wait to feature a project we are working on with you. In some cases, we may substitute or alter designs, fonts, text, or placement of text on our designs for photographing purposes.
24. Bundle credit
Credits such as but not limited to the Bundle Credit as reflected on your estimate is applicable at time of payment in full. This credit is not available retroactively or at a lesser cost than what the estimate reflects at time of initial contract signing.
25. How project totals are determined
Tying the Knots’ pricing is all-inclusive and generates your project total, based upon the sum of all parts, as itemized in policy #27 below. A printed, delivered product does not solely represent a return on a project total or payment(s) made, rather the entire process equates to a project total or payment(s) made.
26. Refunds
Due to the individual attention to detail and nature of your custom design and/or customization of our designs, all current and future payments are non-refundable unless deemed by Tying the Knots to be terminated or inefficacious. Please keep in mind, clients can upgrade or substitute design and/or printing elements of equal or increased value or add to their packages and/or print orders if stationery numbers, layouts, quantities or orders fluctuate throughout our project, but cannot deduct from the original Total Project purchase price or any subsequent purchases with Tying the Knots.
27. Proration adjustment
If, for some reason, a project must be terminated, Tying the Knots will need to be compensated for the time devoted to your project, from the onset, at the industry standard average rate, $150/hour. Tying the Knots reserves the right to determine if a project is eligible for a termination proration adjustment and/or deem a project to be inefficacious and therefore terminated.
The following timelines represent an average and will be utilized to generate a total. The first three items are automatically applied at 60 minutes, or $150. Each additional item is dependent upon the progress our project has made.
1. initial conception of your project, 35 minutes
2. overall scheduling time, 15 minutes
3. email correspondence, written, averaging 10 minutes, each message
4. email correspondence, read, averaging 10 minutes, each message
5. time devoted custom drawing, averaging 1 hour, each proof
6. time devoted personalizing, averaging 30 minutes, each proof
7. time devoted revisions, averaging 30 minutes, each proof
8. time devoted to painting, if applicable, averaging 1 hour, each proof
9. phone consultations, if applicable, averaging 25 minutes, each consult
10. research devoted to your venue, landscape, landmarks, general vicinity, and other pertinent information, averaging 30 minutes, each proof, with the exception of custom maps which average 1 hour, each proof
11. time devoted to photo editing and/or word processing programs, 30 minutes, each proof, with the exception of programs, which average 1 hour, each side, each proof
12. subsequent review of email correspondences due to client requests or uncertainties such as dates, pricing, contractual agreements, revisions, timelines and other pertinent information, 30 minutes, each review
13. printing time, 2 hours, each set of 100 individual cards

28. Terminated Single Designs
Once a design form has been submitted and/or client and artist have discussed design on an item, the design timeline has begun. Items that have already begun design work but will not need to be printed, after all, will be subject to a $150 design fee for completed design and $350 design fee for custom design, each.
29. Variations
Due to digital proofing and the handcrafted aspect to each printed project, uniformity cannot always be achieved. There may be differences in size, color and texture.
30. Our style
Tying the Knots Studio has a style all its own, represented by our body of work which can be found on our website at www.tyingtheknots.com ; please note, this is the style of artwork we will create for you. Tying the Knots Studio will not emulate another artist or stationer’s artwork.
31. Understanding these policies
We understand our clients most likely have never done this before and are balancing many contracts and dates when planning a wedding, however, Tying the Knots cannot be held responsible for clients “forgetting” or “not knowing” what they have signed. Please take the time to read these policies and reach out to us if you need further explanation on anything; we are happy to go over any of this in great detail, especially the timelines. It may be helpful to print this page out for your records for easy reference.

REFUNDS
We understand your time is valuable- especially when planning a wedding. The time we devote to our clients is valuable, too. In starting each and every project, much time is devoted to answering emails and/or phone consultations, reviewing and analyzing file attachments, calculating timelines and general thoughtfulness of the concept of designs and initial questions via email or phone consultations. This is why we require a non-refundable $150 as a retainer. After the first proof has been finalized and approved, the remaining non-refundable balance is due before resuming our project.

Due to the customized nature of our finished, printed projects, your printed custom stationery cannot be refunded or exchanged.
Payment
Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Etsy Gift Cards, and payments through Pay Pal.

Our packages are prepared with care to ensure a safe and swift delivery*. We highly recommend FedEx as the most reliable shipping company. Shipments 2 weeks from the date of the wedding will require FedEx delivery.
