About

Quality, excellence, and elegance in handmade books.

Bookbinding has been my passion since around 2003 when I was searching for a method to bind my mixed media collage art into a single book. I enjoyed the process so much I couldn't stop making books and my shelves were overflowing! By sharing my work with others through Etsy I have found an excuse to continue making books.

I got started on Etsy thanks to my husband, who saw a magazine article about Etsy and encouraged me to open a shop. I thought that was crazy and no one would want to buy my books, but with his encouragement I did it anyway.

In 2007, I opened my first shop, UberArt, specializing in art journals. My first listing sold within 24 hours and I've been at it ever since! I opened my guest book shop, Emerson Bindery, in 2009 and have been privileged to provide over 6000 guest books to make my customers' events even more special.

Not only do I work to provide an excellent product, but for me it's also about the customer's experience. I take special care in the details, right down to the packaging.

My work has been published by Lark Books in "Making Mini Books: Big Ideas for 30+ Little Projects".

I also had the pleasure of working with Grammy award winning rock band, The Fray, to create a backstage guest book for their 2009 summer tour. You can view my portfolio at http://www.flickr.com/photos/uberart/

I donate a portion of my shop's income to Reach Recovery, an organization which helps adults battling drug & alcohol dependencies.

I love making books and learning new bookbinding techniques. When I have time I enjoy art journaling and trying out my book designs firsthand.

My job is to approve all incoming shipments of supplies. UPS and the mail carrier must first pet me before making deliveries. In my downtime, I enjoy lying in patches of warm sunshine in the floor of the studio while my mom fills orders.

  • My hubby

    Book Press Maker

My husband has been a great support, encourager, and visionary. My shop would not be open without him!

  • Clyde

    Helper

I like to help. With everything. I am still a puppy but I am learning fast. Maybe not fast enough for Mom, though!
