TIP:

always clean ring base glue pads prior to applying any epoxy, as traces of machine grease are sometimes present on metal and brass jewelry findings (I use rubbing alcohol and a q-tip). left-behind grease can cause your epoxy to adhere incorrectly to vintage buttons and vintage jewelry findings.

TIP:

i also clean my vintage jewelry findings and antique buttons with a q-tip dipped in alcohol (soap and water can leave behind a residue). some vintage findings do not respond well to this treatment - my guess would be 98-99% of vintage buttons and vintage jewelry findings respond well to this method of sanitizing and cleaning. makes vintage rhinestones get super-sparkly!

WHAT IS THE BEST EPOXY FOR JEWELRY MAKING?

i like e-6000 for gluing vintage jewelry and antique buttons to jewelry findings. e-6000 is easy to work with and sets quickly. i get mine at michael’s, where it’s available with an easy to use pointed nozzle.
