About

Art has always been a driving force in my life.

Creating things has always been a part of my life. Since I was little I liked making things and putting things together. I have studied and worked with many forms of visual arts including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and visual communications. I started tinkering with the creation of jewelry pieces on my own around 1992. My early pieces were made with the materials at hand consisting of lead free silver pipe solder melted into molds she cut into scrap wood with an Exacto knife.

My studies of drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, philosophy, different forms of spirituality, and my BFA in Visual Communications all play a part in the jewelry I create. I have received formal training in creating jewelry at Indiana University of South Bend and I continue to study different techniques through reading material and learning from the materials I work with. The designs I create are based in years of study of not just jewelry but also other forms of visual arts and life itself.

I started Unicorn’s Garden in 2001 as a web and fair based hobby. I started selling my jewelry at Renaissance Fairs and on the web when I realized my passion for creating jewelry would have to support itself. If it did not I would end up with far more jewelry than I would ever wear and no money. In the beginning there was only a small line of jewelry, herbs, oils, candles, and original artwork. After a few years the herbs, oils, candles, and artwork lines were discontinued. I have several unique styles that I keep in stock while creating new and enticing designs.

Unicorn’s Garden, now a full business, has an ever expanding jewelry line with new pieces added to my Etsy shop as they are created. Although I am continuing to work on expanding the jewelry line I am always open to custom work. My handmade jewelry has a simple elegance that I sell at reasonable prices. Each piece is individually hand made with attention to detail. I love working with people to bring the concepts they have in their minds to life. Often times a custom piece makes me think in new ways be it in concept or technique. The entire process from hearing the initial concept, through working with a person to get the design the way they want it, to the final conclusion of finishing the piece is exhilarating.

I have always loved creating things. I have a BFA in Visual Communications but have found fulfilling work in making jewelry. This shop, my website, and traveling to events to sell the wears I make is my full time job and I love it!

Shop policies

I make jewelry and other creations because I simply enjoy creating. I started selling my jewelry because my pieces really needed to find their own homes and stop over crowding mine. Also because by selling my jewelry I can support my addiction to making more.

Although I do use new materials in my work, I recycle and reuse scrap when ever possible.

I believe in being up front and honest so if you ever have any questions, comments, or suggestions about my work please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Additional policies and FAQs
Custom Orders:
I am always happy to discuss custom orders and offer design approval in advance. Simple changes, such as cord/chain length, to listed items are rarely an issue. Some changes, such as ring size or the piece made in a different metal, may require a new piece being made. In cases such as those the finished item may vary from the original picture.

If I have to buy materials I do not usually stock to complete a custom piece, I reserve the right to ask for a non-refundable payment up front. That will be discussed when discussing a custom piece and all terms will be stated before the work on a custom piece begins.

Ring Sizes:
It is the responsibility of the customer to make sure ring sizes and necklace lengths are correct before ordering. Please keep in mind the width of a band will affect the feel of the ring, wider bands may fit more snug than narrow bands. If you would like a ring that is a different size than listed, please convo me before placing the order as some rings cannot be made in some sizes.
