proud to be american-made
emma mckinstry was founded in 2009 (as ‘unique, by emma’) shortly after I graduated from college. facing a struggling economy and a difficult job market, I decided to forge by own career path by turning a longtime hobby of jewelry-making into a full-time, profitable business.
initially, all jewelry sales were made through in-house parties and local markets and fairs, but I quickly discovered etsy and set up a shop. etsy, which opened the door to a much broader customer base, became a core component of ‘unique, by emma’ jewelry sales during the company’s early days.
In 2012, ‘unique, by emma’ underwent a full rebranding, which included changing its name to ‘emma mckinstry’, an official relocation from tennessee to new york city, and a refreshed design aesthetic.
today, I work with a rhode island-based manufacturer who uses my sketches to create the beautiful core components (links, pendants, etc.) that are used in each emma mckinstry piece (beginning with the fall/winter 2013-14 collection; not all pieces from this and subsequent collections are available on etsy yet). vibrant, colorful resin is carefully mixed and applied to each component by hand in new york (by me). once the resin has dried, I construct each finished piece using only american-made findings and the bold, resin-filled components which have come to define the emma mckinstry style.
it is very important to me to keep the production of all emma mckinstry pieces (and the supplies used to make those pieces) in the united states.
thank you for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy shopping the american-made emma mckinstry jewelry designs!

emma mckinstry works with an American jewelry manufacturer to produce many of the core components used in the company's designs (links, pendants, etc.). Each piece of jewelry is carefully constructed by hand, using these components.
All items are handmade using semiprecious gemstones, glass beads, Swarovski crystals, and a variety of different quality metals and findings.
Just about any item can be customized, so if you see something you like but want it in different colors or a different quality/color metal, convo me to set up a custom listing for you. Prices will vary on custom orders, depending on the cost of the materials.
