I grew up in a home where using your imagination was appreciated and where it was necessary to make everyday things work in more than one way. Thinking outside the box became the norm. I come from a large family and all of us have a wide creative streak, living with people like that you cannot help but end up wanting to create. My Dad was always creating whether he was making beer and Irish velvet in our hallway cupboard or painting murals in our garage, building barbecue areas out of flagstone or fishponds with waterfalls in the front yard, there was always something to be done or to be changed and made better and I loved being part of it. Then there was my Mom who in another age I am sure would have been a great author she wove such magic when she told a story so much so that you didn't know when the reality ended and the fiction began you just became part of the story.

While growing up other adults always referred to me as being rather unique, perhaps the adults polite way of say "she's a little weird", and my Dad called me Nique so UniqueNique became my creative outlet.

Although I create in many different ways glass is always where I seem to be most happy it can be a harsh taskmaster at times but it offers such brilliance and opportunity for creativity that I can find myself lost for hours in making the perfect cut or choosing the perfect colour that brings an idea to life and gives it wings.
