***** 2012 has been a blessed year for me into felting. Most of my items were sold at local craft shows. Some I didn't get chance to publish on Etsy, sold them, some, even if was published here, it was sold as well at the shows. People have shown the passion for the felted items, and shown the compassion for Upcycled items, and shown support to hand made, hand sewn recylced bags, hats, headbands, etc..
I am strongly encouraged with the first year's experiment. And will continue on this path to show you what I can do with different materials.
It warmed my heart so greatly to see people lined up at my shop to get the fresh items; to see people ordering the item still in the making; to see a sweater transformed into something else with a second life after re-making ........................... my heart is filled with joy.

Creating upcycled tote bags is almost like painting. With a piece of blank paper, you can draw whatever picture you want to draw -- you can design whatever way you want, you can cut any shapes you like. I have tremendous fun in creating them. And each bag is Unique ----- I may not find another sweater just like it. Creative mind will take you to the world far beyond. That is best part of the bags creation. Not to mention its huge benefit of reuse the materials. I use the washer, high heat wash the sweater for 120 minutes. Then high heat dry. I believe that would clean the sweater thoroughly.
I mainly use 100 pure wool. Or other kind of wool. But I also like to make those fancy glittering bags make from fancy dresses.
Enjoy the tour with me and stay inspired. And spend less to get high quality items. Reuse, reduce waste, recycle and upcycle.

Upcycle Reuse and Reduce the waste --turn a sweater into an art work
Last year, my friend shipped me two sweater she ruined. She asked me to make use of them. That was when I started felting. I learned how to felt and learned how to turn them into many things , such as hat, totebags, messenger bags, stocking, flowers --- anything you can set your mind on, anything your skills can take you there.
The felting seriously expanded my interest field, and seriously stimulated my creative brain. It is like given a blank paper, you can draw anything on it, and you can create brand new items from a recycled sweater.
Through the process, I found lots high quality items, such as leather, silk, cashmere, merino wool, lamb's wool. I believe the customers can get one of the kind product with high quality material, yet, spend small amount money that otherwise would cost a fortune.
After High heat washing, high heat dry, most of the wool sweater bags can be washed by machine with normal temperature. you can stretch them before they are complete dry to get back to the original shape.
I hope you will find the project interesting and fascinating as I did my discovery. I have such satisfaction in creating wool felted, upcycled items in my craty life.
