Updates

This week in the upmade workshop, we framed images from an old Mucha art calendar with our reclaimed cardboard frames. Coincidentally, it is the Czech artist's birthday so we decided to pay a little tribute. 8 wall hangings now available in our shop ♡♡♡
This cardboard art hanging invites you to step into a sunny spring day inside a birch tree forest. It is a little reminder of the great beauty of the outdoors for any interior space.
NEW listing. Cardboard art featuring mom and baby elephants or giraffes. Perfect for nursery decor

About

Life is what you make of it.

Hello! My name is Ilona, and upmade is my hobby. I collect different waste materials and try to figure out how they can be transformed into something useful again. Some of the things I make make the cut for my Etsy shop, some ideas become tutorials that I post on Instructables (see link below) and some become projects for upcycling* workshops. My husband, Renier, is a regular contributor to the items upmade offers for sale. He reuses old comic books, magazines and catalogs to create unique collage art hangings and fun greeting cards.

* What is "up-cycling"?
To up-cycle is to take a material that has reached the end of its life (such as packaging or an old piece of furniture) and re-designing it to serve a new purpose, giving it another life. When we creatively reuse waste to turn it into something useful and long lasting, or purchase up-cycled goods rather than ones made from raw resources, we are reducing our ecological footprint and helping to clean up our environment by diverting waste from land-fills.
