Announcement Welcome to UP North Yarns. I hand-dye luxurious natural fibers/yarns in the colors I see abounding in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I gain inspiration from nature, the four seasons; gorgeous hues from my flower beds; the Great Lakes, and even the amazing colors I see in the rocks I collect from all over the UP.

My love of nature and science inspires the colors I use to dye yarn.
I am inspired by nature, which provides me myriad color choices when dyeing animal fibers/yarns. There is so much beauty surrounding me in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. These yarns are my translation of the beauty of nature into a skein of yarn you will enjoy in your creations.
I dye with traditional acid dyes (citric acid or vinegar) as well as natural dye materials from many plants. I forage from Spring until the snow flies, gathering plant stuff that I use to dye yarn. It starts with dandelions and ends with goldenrod and fall mushrooms.

Frequently asked questions
Ethically Sourced Yarns
Yarn suppliers' website information regarding sourcing of animal fiber:
Where are our fibers sourced?
• Bluefaced Leicester is 100% British, coming from small farms all over the UK.
• Merino fibers come from various sources (not Australia). We specify that none of our merino fibers are to come from farms practicing mulesing.
• Superwash Merino comes from Argentina and Uruguay.
• Non-superwash Merino is Peruvian Merino.
Color variation of monitors:
All monitors are different - yarns may look slightly different. I include the colors in the description of the yarn.
Care:
I recommend hand washing superwash yarns for longevity of the garment.
Please wash item separately the first time. Dry flat.
Custom and personalized orders
• I'm happy to dye a custom order for you. We will discuss in detail your wishes. I will create a RESERVED listing for {your name} and provide that link to you. Once you have paid in full within (24 hours), I will complete your order and ship it to you, usually in less than one week.
• I use USPS First Class or Priority in the USA. Default shipping is First Class.
• There are international shipping options, and upgrades are available by contacting me at time of sale. Insurance, confirmation, or international customs are extras that the buyer is responsible for and a customs form will be on the shipping label.
Return Policy
I do not accept returns on yarn unless the error is mine (shipping out wrong base, color by mistake). If you find that you do have a problem with it, please message me and I will try to resolve the problem as best as I can.
