Tessa was fantastic -- easy and fun to work with on a requested modification, with a surprisingly quick turn-around -- and the resulting bag is wonderful! Very well designed and made. I love it!

Just perfect!! Thanks Tessa for working with me and making a knitting bag custom to my requests! You are a pleasure to work with and your work is amazing! I love the idea of this bag and I already have it full and ready to take with me so I can knit anywhere and my projects and yarn are safe and protected. I would highly recommend this seller! Great communication, fast turn around time and shipping! Thank you so very much!!

About

On learning to build awesome bike bags

UppityB was born from a decade-long stint working in urban planning and bike transportation, combined with a lifelong love of fiber arts. Based on the idea of Cycle Chic - that urban cycling style can be elegant, relaxed, and completely functional without an ounce of spandex - the goal of UppityB is to build bags that function perfectly on the bike and look great off the bike.

All UppityB bags are handmade in Portland Oregon on a vintage 1960s Singer Slant-o-Matic. I work out of my home studio perched on the top floor of a vintage apartment building. My view from the studio in winter is a jigsaw of rooftops, but in summer I can't see a single house - just endless treetop green. When I need a break from cutting and sewing the cats and I do a little birdwatching.

Sustainability is an important part of UppityB. As well as encouraging sustainable transportation options by making pretty bike bags I conduct all my business logistics by bike - everything from taking packages to the post office to traveling with my wares to craft fairs.

Welcome to UppityB! After a decade working in urban planning and bicycle transportation this little business is a return to my first love of fiber arts and textiles. As a maker I tend to gravitate toward three-dimensional work, so bag-making really lets my brain out to play. Tackling questions of prettiness and practicality in bike bag design is great fun, and it lets me put my bike transportation know-how to good use.
