On Etsy since 2015

My mission with Urban Flax is to create textiles that are well made, loved, used often, and serve their purpose for a long time.

Here are some facts about linen:

+Linen fiber comes from the flax plant that is recognized for it’s blue flower. The same plant produces seeds that are very nutritious. Different varieties are cultivated for each use. Linen fabric is NOT to be confused with burlap!

+The best linen presumably comes from Europe, for its climate is perfect for growing great quality, long fiber textile linen.
+Linen is considered organic by “default.” It often only requires natural rainfall and virtually zero pesticides to grow.

+in many European cultures linen symbolizes light, cleanliness and simplicity. As clothing, it is believed to protect one from negative energies. In the home, linen curtains will block outside radiation from entering.

+Wearing linen improves mood and eases tension, so its considered a great fabric for expectant mothers and perhaps even moody people!

+Linen fibers contain natural elements such as selenium and silica, and they are the only natural fibers compatible with the human body when used in surgery. These qualities may explain why people feel refreshed after sleeping on linen sheets.

+Linen clothing will keep you cool in the summer and warm in winter. In fact, in hot weather, the environment beneath linen becomes 3-4 degrees cooler. It won’t cling to your body, and will be antistatic, antibacterial, artistic, and just generally cool looking!

+Linen is as luxurious as it is humble — its organic texture is equally at home in modern urban lofts as it is in rustic country cottages, or - anywhere in between! If you don’t mind a few wrinkles, you can’t go wrong by choosing linen!

Shipping
SHIPPING
USPS with a tracking option. Boxes up to 16 oz ship as First class mail or Priority Mail. Over 16 oz USPS charges by 1 lb increments and orders will be shipped either by Priority Mail (to most states) or USPS Ground. I will choose the shipping method if the order qualifies for free shipping.
If you choose PriorityExpress your order will NOT be automatically moved up the production line. It only refers to how USPS will be handling the package. Contact me if you have a request to speed up your order!
When you purchase multiple items, I will combine the shipping and will reimburse the overcharges greater than 1.00 at the time your package is ready to ship.
International buyers are responsible for their customs fees. The package will be marked as "merchandise. I cannot refund items lost that are shipped internationally.
PACKAGING
I use a local eco-friendly packaging company to ship my products in most cases. Boxes are made in the US from 100% post consumer content and are fully recyclable and biodegradable. The item itself is sealed in a waterproof bag that is also 100% recycled content. I use recyclable paper tape to seal my packages.
For some packages I will reuse clean shipping boxes that I have saved.
Additional policies and FAQs
PROCESSING TIME:

All items are HANDMADE and most are MADE TO ORDER!
Please refer to a "ship by date" when placing your order, that is a date you order most likely will ship from the shop (not arrive!)
TAKE IN MIND : When you buy several items, the production time may take longer than listed for individual listings! Contact me with any questions!
CUSTOM ORDERS:
Custom orders are items that I make to your specifications (size or color that I do not carry in my inventory). Custom orders cannot be cancelled, returned or exchanged- generally. However, let me know if a problem arises and in certain cases I might be able to make accommodations.
Please, do not hesitate to communicate with me at all times about your orders, if you have questions or simply want another person’s opinion…
Textiles are tactile and personal objects, and for that reason, I strongly suggest requesting a fabric sample before making a larger purchase.
Thank you very much for supporting American artisans!
