Announcement   Contemporary home and fashion accessories in bright colours and prints including bright patterned clutch bags, fabric totes, chunky knitted scarves and cushions.

Urbanknit accessories are bold and colourful be it a funky knitted cowl, an iPad sleeve or a bright print clutch, you will definitely what you are looking for.

I love bold prints, bright colours and interesting textures and for that reason I particularly love using traditional African prints and fabrics, combining them with modern fabrics like denim, corduroy, silk and cotton to make accessories that are durable yet interesting thus mixing colours and cultures where the old tradition meets the modern world.

My scarves and snoods are hand-knitted in a chunky style from 100% merino wool and sometimes cashmere or Alpaca for a more luxurious feel.

Thank you for visiting.

One of my all time favourite custom orders from the fabulous Ivy from Paris! Ivy had some beautiful Kente fabric that she got from Ghana and wanted it made into a Supersnap Clutch.
A one of a kind order using woven traditional strip fabric from Ghana.
Ivy is always on point! Isn’t she so stylish? Urbanknit customers are just so cool. She always rocks her Urbanknit accessories with extra style. In this shot, she accessorises with her one of a kind Aso-oke Megasnap clutch. Love it!
Studio fun. Sewing some woven cloth for some new totes. Batik cushions fresh off the press peeking in the left corner! My studio is filled with my favoirite bits and pieces from all over. As well as the tools of the trade of course!

About

From Lagos to London

I started Urbanknit™ with the aim of creating fresh and interesting handmade fashion accessories that are unique and offer the wearer a sense of individuality.

My aim is to make pieces that are unique, interesting and unusual. I love bold prints, bright colours and interesting textures.

The clutches, totes, and zipper pouches come in bright African prints and batiks. I use a lovely collection of Aso-Òkè, Ànkárá and Àdìre fabrics from Nigeria and West Africa some of which are themselves handmade.

In the colder winter months my handknitted scarves, cowls and scarflettes in the signature chunky knit style will keep you warm and cosy. These come in natural yarns such as merino wool, cashmere and alpaca for the extra luxurious feel against the skin and for added comfort.

Hi and welcome to my store. My name is Dolapo James and every item here is handmade by me. The scarves are handknitted mainly from merino wool into funky but functional pieces.

The bags are made from farbic sourced in Nigeria, Gambia, Ghana, West Africa.

I like to have unique items that are bold, fun and interesting and for that reason I like to make accessories that are one-off so that no one else has the same one as you do.
