    A Groundbreaking Advancement in the Field of Obsolescence

    The idea for USB Typewriter all began in late 2009, when I found a clunky old Royal typewriter on the side of the road. After a little spit polish and elbow grease, I was really amazed by how pristine this machine was underneath its century's worth of rust and dust. And even more amazing: it still worked!

    Typewriters are just really beautiful and elegant pieces of technology -- timeless, really -- and it struck me as sad that they have been forgotten and neglected, especially since most computer stuff today is so disposable and utilitarian. People love typewriters, and lots of people have them on their mantle or in their attic, but there is just no place for them on a modern computer desk. So, with the USB Typewriter project I am trying to rescue typewriters from garages and attics and put them to use again.

    In my Etsy store, I sell a range of lovingly restored USB-enabled typewriters, and also a do-it-yourself kit that adds a USB port to any typewriter.

    All ready-made USB Typewriters are vintage machines that have been pre-owned. I guarantee that pictures and functional descriptions of the machines are an honest representation of each typewriter being purchased -- however, because of the reclaimed nature of these antique typewriters, it is possible you may not receive the exact typewriter that is pictured in the listing. I offer a 60 day satisfaction guarantee return policy -- during which time you may choose to return the typewriter to me for any reason (If you have requested a custom paint job or engraved message for your typewriter, however, I will not accept returns.). I also offer a 2 year repair/replace policy against breakage due to normal use.

    All PCBs and components included in the DIY Conversion Kits are guaranteed against defects. Any obvious flaws in these parts is grounds for a full refund. If you have any problems assembling the kit, I will do my best to guide you through it.

    I accept Paypal and credit cards. If you wish to pay with credit card, please email me and I'll send you a credit card invoice.
    Shipping
    Unless otherwise requested, all kits and typewriters are shipped FedEx. International orders are shipped with the US Postal Service.

    I pack my typewriters extremely well, so you do not have to worry about damage during shipping.

    Shipping costs for ready-made or custom-made USB-Typewriters will be layed out in individual item descriptions.

    Any customs duties or import taxes levied by non-US countries on US goods are the sole responsibility of the purchaser to pay. If you are concerned about the customs charges your country may require to import goods, please contact me before purchasing and I will help you determine what they may be, if any.
