About

With this shop that starts with just four houses, I am returning to crafting miniatures after a 40 year hiatus. Back in New Jersey in the early 1970’s I built dollhouses in the traditional 1/12th. scale. I sold some through Dollhouse shops and built a few custom ones for private customers. Then, the burden of a family move and new job responsibilities caused me to put my crafting interests aside. Now fully retired, I have renewed my interests in miniatures. This time around I have combined my crafting skills for small houses with my love of American history to launch US Frontier Miniatures. Also, I have decided to concentrate on building quality miniatures in ¼ / O scale only.

On the history front, I have been greatly inspired since moving to Virginia. Surrounded by the Jamestown Settlement, Williamsburg, Jefferson’s Monticello (which I have visited about 8 times) and in particular the Frontier Cultural Museum in Staunton, VA., it is hard not to get a deep understanding and reverence for American history and the European settlers who came here for a better life all those hundreds of years ago. Using only their remembrance of the houses in the countries that they left, these original immigrants adapted the materials at hand (timber and stones) to build an array of homes across the expanding frontier of America as diverse and different as the American people themselves.

So, my passion is designing and crafting quality miniature structures representative of the ones built by the early European settlers on the U.S. Frontier. This frontier really started at the Jamestown, Virginia Settlement in 1607 and when the first Plymouth, Massachusetts settlers arrived in 1620. From those two points the American Frontier moved westward as well as both north and south over the next 300 years. I use a variety of materials to achieve the result that I desire; a unique miniature structure that is a genuine representation of these early American houses. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I enjoy researching, designing and making them. I also hope that you agree that my miniatures have captured a little bit of the spirit of these pioneers and the America that they built.
