About UtopiaPkwyArtStudio
This is My Story and I'm Sticking to It
I'm not afraid of color.
My paintings are spontaneous explorations into what is currently fascinating me and could be described as transitional abstracts. Exploring concepts, images and feelings, I like to see what happens in the moment.
I am continually amazed by the subconscious that is often suppressed but somehow demands to be listened to and try to capture that essence in my painting. My work’s inspiration fuses a variety of interests: the organic beauty found in nature, yoga practices and philosophies, and the power of spirituality. Each work in its own way addresses the vulnerability that stems from being at the mercy of powers greater than us but also from the knowledge that life is precious and beautiful.
Through my work, I am exploring my personal inner vocabulary via color, texture and form. In the midst of a chaotic, over stimulating, modern world, I seek a balanced simplicity and my artwork is a vehicle to remind us stay in a state of equipoise despite external circumstances.
Biography
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Gina Marie Dunn has lived in Dallas much of her life. She attended Ursuline Academy and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Loyola University New Orleans with B.A. in Communications and a Minor in Studio Arts.
After graduating, Gina started teaching children of all ages at The Dallas Museum of Art and Art Stop. Overcome with a sense of true calling, she opened her own private art studio, Utopia Pkwy. Art Studio, where she has been painting independently and offering children’s art lessons since 2005. Her art has been shown in galleries, cafes and published worldwide. Gina is a wife and mother of three, has fun making art every day, and believes it is never too early to instill a love of the arts in children.
