As always, I LOVE it! Chimene's creative genius inspires me. I purchased this second journal so that I would immediately have it at my fingertips as soon as I finish the first one.

Although I was named after Dr. Maya Angelou I've lost touch with navigating the waters of my thoughts. This is my second journal from Chimene. It feels good to get back to my love of writing, it's truly therapeutic. I am allowed to reflect on my thoughts and get them out on the tea-stained pages. It's funny no matter how minuscule the moment I get to make it a memory, by releasing it and letting it go. No longer being held captive to my thoughts. I am truly thankful for Black women creatives. For a blank page serves no purpose, but a filled page can tell a story and live for the span of centuries. It's only been two weeks but I look forward to the continuing of me journeying soulfully. Maya 💜💜💜

About

Our Journeys Matter; Write it all Down

After years of journaling I finally realized there were no journals aimed at telling women of colour that our lives are worth journal pages, and sharing such by celebrating the journeys we live through. So I started this brand. My name is Chimene (shi-men) Jackson and I design and craft journals and cahiers for tea-stained women (women of color).

Over the years journaling has become invaluable to me as a daily practice and a lifestyle of processing my truths and self-healing. In 2012 my parents divorced and my mom valiantly started her life over with my siblings and our neurotic dog. Life rattled in harsh endings and new beginnings and journaling helped me process my feelings, keep track of the memories, form a timeline, and appreciate the good in the midst of the struggles. Through writing I learned that I was growing stronger, even when it seemed life was chipping away at me.

This is the reason I share the gospel of journaling with other tea stained women. I want to see more of us writing our stories down; writing down our dreams, ideas, art, poems, and emotions. Besides being completely therapeutic, the practice allows for us to reinterpret our "issues" and "drama" into sustenance for our journey. It gives us a support system that social media and even close friends cannot replicate. It teaches us healthy self-sufficiency. I long for everyone to have the same joy.

I name Vagabroad Journal collections after seasons we go through as we are moving forward to the places our purpose is taking us. From Sankofa to Allons-y! there's a story unfolding, meant to help us narrate ourselves wherever we are in our journeys.

I hope these journals aid in the story-finding, story-writing process for us as tea-stained women. Because our journeys are soulful, and our stories will matter years down the line. I make the books for you to put them in...

I love you,

Chimene

Frequently asked questions

Can I reserve a journal?

Yes, absolutely! You may reserve up to 2 (TWO) journals, for up to ONE WEEK. After this, your journal is taken off of reserve and made available to the public again.

Custom and personalized orders

***NO CUSTOM ORDERS***

Period. Thanks for understanding.

How often do you update your shop?

I update once a week or twice a month. I know that's a huge range but it all depends on my work flow and how many journals are already in the shop. .

Why is your shop always near empty?

1. These journals go fast
2. I make each. by. hand. One journal is about 7 days of work.

Can you make (attaches image of a specific journal to email) one of your old journal designs for me?

I do not duplicate my own work. These are women's books for their story. Authors don't share book covers for their different stories. Thank you for respecting the women who own my old work by not requesting that I make their book cover for you.
