Quality Engineer turned Metalsmith.
For years metals was a hobby of mine. I was working full time as a Quality Engineer, but any time I wasn't at work I was in the metals studio hammering and filing away.
My husband took a job 800 miles away and we decided to live apart for our careers. After a year and a half of that, we'd had enough. I packed it up, moved in with my husband and I took this as an opportunity to do metalwork full time. I set up a metals studio at home and opened shop.
I work mostly with copper and enamel, but I love sterling silver and gemstones as well.
I like to keep my designs simple. It's so easy to want to design very elaborate pieces (and I still do on occasion), but I make a conscious effort to keep things more basic. I think my necklaces can still be statement pieces without the $500 price tag necessary of more intricate designs.
Owner, Maker, Designer
It all started when my sister dragged me to a class--She hated it and I was hooked. I have a studio in my home now where I work primarily in sterling silver and copper with various gemstones.
