Valley & Vale. Design and Craft - Crefftau i'r Cartref (crafts for the home)

Design and Craft - Crefftau i'r Cartref (crafts for the home)
Est 2014.

Simply, the name is based on my location, the beautiful green valleys and vales of South Wales.

I caught the craft bug at a young age, some of my earliest memories are of setting up stalls with my amazingly talented mom at craft fairs around the Midlands, UK. We also did a lot of volunteer work for the RSPB, I suppose thats where my love for nature started which is now the inspiration behind a lot of my work. I went on to study Art and Design in college and from there onto Graphics and Web Design.
I've worked in retail, an accountant's office and for 5 years in a small library - a fantastic job which really gives you the opportunity to be creative, all the while carrying on designing and decorating in my spare time.

In 2010 I married a lovely Welshman! And moved to Wales or, as I like to tell people, I emigrated to an exotic country! Since then I had a part time job as a pharmacy dispenser. Its always been my aim to be fully self employed so after years of being a 'hobbyist' I took a leap by opening up shop on Etsy and then creating this website. In 2016 I took another leap and left my job to focus on design. My ultimate dream would be a little cafe/homeware shop or to see my own stationary and pattern designs in shops...

My inspiration? The beauty of the natural world. Favourite place - The Lake District. I do have a slight obsession with pretty papers and stationery...oh and paint colour charts!!??

(Lauren's Mom!) I have been sewing, knitting and painting pictures from an early age. Particularly anything to do with nature - Birds and insects are top of my list.

Frequently asked questions

Timescale for Custom Graphics

I try to finish designs as promptly as possible (usually within a week) but
creation time varies on each item, it depends on if you have a clear idea of what you want or if we are starting from scratch and communication times.
PLEASE NOTE If I do not hear back from you within 4 weeks then I will class that order as being completed.

What's the Process for Custom Logo Orders?

I start by asking you a few questions, after discussing your ideas and inspiration I will get to work on some draft designs, then after choosing a design, proofreading and revising (up to 4 edits are included within the price) the final files will be created and sent upon cleared payment.

You then own your design copyright to use wherever (social media, stationery printing etc) and however many times you want - Just please, don't resell the designs as your own!

PLEASE NOTE if starting a design from scratch I may ask for a £5 deposit for work and time, this will then be taken off the final cost.
I also retain the right to refuse or cancel orders if your design requests are not within my skill set (you will be refunded any payments)

Where do I start with a Logo Design?

The best logos are easy to read at a glance and don't come with a lot of complicated elements, imagery or typefaces. A logo is an introduction to your brand, or a first impression. You want it to be clean, simple and memorable.

Start with your business name. If there's a bit of imagery that goes well with it, you can pair text and some type of icon. If not, opt for a logotype, or type-based logo, that you can integrate into your website and other marketing materials.

Stick to your brand colours and make sure that the logo also looks good in black and white. (You'll use a colourless version more frequently than you might think.)
