About

The Story of Valley & Vale.

Est 2014.

WHY THE NAME VALLEY & VALE?
Simply, the name is based on my location, the beautiful green valleys and vales of South Wales.

WHAT'S YOUR BACKGROUND BEFORE SETTING UP V&V?
I caught the craft bug at a young age, some of my earliest memories are of setting up stalls with my amazingly talented mom at craft fairs around the West Midlands, UK. I went on to study Art and Design in college and from there onto Graphics and Web Design. After moving into my own home I then became addicted with decorating and Interior Design.

WHY DID YOU SET UP V&V?
In 2010 I married a lovely Welshman and moved to Wales. Or, as I like to tell people, I emigrated to an exotic country! After years of being a 'hobbyist' I took a leap by opening up this shop on Etsy and also creating a website. In 2016 I took another leap and left my day job to focus solely on design.
I'm a small kitchen table (well dining table to be exact) business and proud of it. I'm always painting or making something simply for the love of being creative.

Frequently asked questions
Timescale for Custom Graphics

I try to finish designs as promptly as possible (usually within a week) but creation time varies on each item, it depends on if you have a clear idea of what you want or if we are starting from scratch and communication times.
PLEASE NOTE If I do not hear back from you within 4 weeks then I will class that order as being completed.

What's the Process for Custom Logo Orders?

I start by asking you a few questions, after discussing your ideas and inspiration I will get to work on some draft designs, then after choosing a design, proofreading and revising (up to 4 edits are included within the price) the final files will be created and sent upon cleared payment.

You then own your design to use wherever and however many times you want - Just please, don't resell the designs as your own!

PLEASE NOTE due to the amount of time I put into designs I may ask for a £5 deposit after creating the first drafts, this will then be taken off the final cost.
I also retain the right to refuse or cancel orders if your design requests are not within my skill set (you will be refunded any payments)

Where do I start with a Logo Design?

The best logos are easy to read at a glance and don't come with a lot of complicated elements, imagery or typefaces. A logo is an introduction to your brand, or a first impression. You want it to be clean, simple and memorable.

Start with your business name. If there's a bit of imagery that goes well with it, you can pair text and some type of icon. If not, opt for a logotype, or type-based logo, that you can integrate into your website and other marketing materials.

Stick to your brand colours and make sure that the logo also looks good in black and white. (You'll use a colourless version more frequently than you might think.)
