About

Capturing a love of nature through making one of a kind textile dolls

I have been making cloth dolls for a couple of years now. I read three doll making books to get me started: 'An Introduction to Making Cloth Dolls' by Jan Horrox, 'Creative Cloth Doll Collective' by Patti Medaris Culea and 'Designing the Doll: From Concept to Construction' by Susanna Oroyan, and set out by making personalised dolls for friends and family to learn the craft of cloth doll making.

I have this ambition to push my doll making practice further and to use the skills I learnt in my textiles degree to truly create original one of a kind pieces. My initial concept is to create a collection of dolls inspired by the seasons. Autumn provided a wonderful opportunity to explore the rich earth tones that this gorgeous season has to offer, but Winter has truly captured my imagination.

Using the crow as a starting point and a darker colour palette, I feel that I have made a break through. There is a deeper connection here and 'The Crow's Secret' was born. My head is buzzing with ideas and I'm a looking forward to sharing this adventure as it unfolds.
