These are the cutest little bowls. I think they make great hostess gifts, especially the larger ones. These are a very good price point. I use the little ones on my counter for odds and ends. They are sturdy and easily washable. I have the canteloupe, the orange, the lemon and the lime. I bought the watermelon as a housewarming gift. Can't go wrong..

I ordered this for my mom for Christmas and the shipping was taking a little longer than expected, so the owner sent me a free bowl! Customer service is so good, and the planter was so cute, I got a small succulent to go with it. Totally recommend.

My experience with this shop could not have been better. The bowls are as described, even more beautiful than i had imagined. They were sent in a most timely matter and safely packaged. i had one question prior to delivery, and they got back to me immediately with their response.
I bought these bowls as a gift, and the recipient was thrilled with them.
The bowls are lovely and so creative with perfect cantaloupe rind texture on the outer side. i would definitely buy from this seller again and am looking forward to purchasing other items they offer.
    Many thanks.

Arrived timely. Beautiful work. Wished it was slightly bigger. It was a Xmas gift for daughter that had pinned it in her wishlist. She loves it!

This was a gift for my life long girlfriend. She loves the watermelon bowl. I did not know that my friend actually saw your work at a show and was impressed.

Excellent customer service. The original piece I ordered was cracked before shipping. Melanie offered to send me another piece and it arrived just in time for thanksgiving as a hostess gift for my friend. She also sent me my original order once a new one was made. Would definitely come back to this shop. Thank you!

Functional pottery molded from real fruits and vegetables!

Vegetabowls® began 8 years ago in Lexington, Massachusetts while Melanie was teaching a ceramics class. She asked her students to each bring in a fruit or vegetable for a lesson on slip-casting and plaster mold-making. She used a cantaloupe for her demonstration and it turned out so great they ended up casting a cabbage and pineapple. When Melanie brought it home to her husband he was amazed. He said, "we have to make all kinds of fruit and vegetable bowls.... vegetabowls!" Grocery shopping has not been the same since!

Our line is constantly evolving and expanding with each trip to the farmer’s market and each passing season. Vegetabowls® aims to promote local farming, healthy eating, and an appreciation for handmade functional house wares.

Vegetabowls® is a small ceramics company in Sarasota, FL. Each item is handmade by Melanie and Justin Mckenney. The two attended Alfred University where they both received Bachelors of Fine Arts degrees. After graduating Melanie and Justin moved to Boston, MA. Melanie taught ceramics at a non-profit art center, and Justin was an instructor at a public access glassblowing studio. In 2010 they got married and launched Vegetabowls®. They just re-located from Grand Island, NY to Sarasota, FL with their daughter Lyla, son Reed, and dog Sadie.

We are Handmade in America: Our dream for Vegetabowls® is to grow our business while sticking to what we believe in. We are committed to and proud to be Handmade in America! We will never outsource our production overseas! We are makers, we love what we do, and we want to keep doing it. As we grow, we will hire more local people to grow with us, and provide jobs where it is really needed: at home.

We support local: We buy from our neighbors whenever we can. We shop the farmer’s market for produce and inspiration, we buy our clay and glazes down the street, and even our packing materials are sourced locally.
