(from France) The necklace just arrived and is even more beautiful "in person". The pendants are so delicate !! They match perfectly together. Monica certainly makes some beautiful quality jewelry, she is very kind too, so patient and helpful with my fussy concern about overseas shipping ! The carefully wrapped parcel travelled safely, and the necklace is a wonderful treat to myself !

About

Every person, every thing has a story.

A childhood spent hopping military base to military base around the Far East (Japan, Philippines), a decade and a half of adulthood spent in Hawai'i, and enjoying the mystery of what is to come in the PNW. My life in a very simple nutshell.

Life in the tropics wasn't the most conducive (or receptive) for what some refer to as "dark" or "gothic" art and culture. I couldn't find what I was looking for in jewelry, and the only readily available shop that offered anything remotely "gothic" was a national chain store. Never handmade, never unique. I got fed up with trying to balance my inner self with the outer environment. There will always be a little bit of the tropics in me - after all, I spent my best formative years immersed in it - but liberating myself from expectation is a beautiful feeling.
I am a very content Military Brat/Geek/Goth (hate the term but oh well)/former Jock/Feline fanatic. I am certainly not the only one, as I've learned from living in the PNW. Fantastic.

After making some jewelry for myself, I realized I got a lot of joy out of the creation process. It was simple jewelry but the feeling of twisting metal and sorting through rich, jewel-toned gems and beads left me feeling content with myself. I ended up buying way too many supplies over the months after that, and that's when I discovered Etsy and thought, "why not try selling the extra pieces I made?"
My first sale came sooner than I figured, and that was it.

I expanded my style to incorporate vintage items that I find in antique shops all over the country. Being a farm kid (thank you, grandparents!), recycling and repurposing were a part of daily life. And so, it's an obvious choice for me to give new life to items that were somehow treasured at one time, then tossed. These treasures all have a story. Perhaps similar to mine. Or yours.
