About

A Very Lovely Life: making your life lovelier

I opened "A Very Lovely Life" for 2 reasons:

first, so my family doesn't put me on "Hoarders: Vintage edition"

and second, in hopes of "re-homing" some of the beautiful vintage pieces I find while thrifting.

To me, there's something very lovely about finding an old batter bowl or a sheet with a beautiful faded pattern. I like to imagine their history and then intertwine it with my own.

The name, "A Very Lovely Life", comes from an episode of, of all things, "Sex and the City"! Carrie calls a neighboring veterinarian, asking them to do something about the roosters on the roof next door who are waking her up, literally, at the crack of dawn. The veterinarian tells her that they will be put in the basement. Carrie is worried, but the vet assures her, "Don't worry- they have a very lovely life". :)

Maybe a strange place to draw inspiration, but isn't that all we can hope for? A life described as "very lovely"? My hope is that a piece in my store can make your life just a little bit lovelier.

Shipping
My most frequently asked question is "why is the shipping so high?". Basically, I have estimated the shipping for a customer on the west coast (I live in Tennessee). A typical sheet set weighs between 3 and 4 pounds. Most times, I'm dead on. Occasionally, I lose money and sometimes it's a little cheaper than I quoted. I am more than happy to give you an individualized quote - just message me with your zip code. If you'd like to figure it out on your own, my zip is 37917 :)

I ship everything Parcel Post or Priority Mail, depending on the cost. If Priority is less than a dollar more, I usually just go with that- I hear through the postal grape vine that Priority packages get handled a bit better :) If you need your item quicker than that, message me before purchasing and I'll bill you for the upgrade!

I try to ship items within 1-3 days of purchase but may occasionally take up to 5 days. Need it ASAP? Message me and I'll move you to the front of the line!

On request, I will add insurance and shipping confirmation.

Bundled items = cheaper shipping! Message me before you buy and I'll make a listing just for you with lower shipping.

I love to ship overseas! Message me for a quote!
Refunds and Exchanges
I do not accept returns, but will insure items through the post office on request.

All items are inspected before listing, but if your item arrives in a different condition then you expected, please message me and I will do my best to make it right! After all, how can you have a very lovely life if your sheets have a tear or your mug is broken? :)
Additional policies and FAQs
Vintage sheets were designed for smaller mattresses - I use them on my own mattresses, both of which have pillow tops, with no problems, but if your bed is especially "tall", a vintage fitted sheet may not fit. When in doubt, measure your mattress and message me!
