Welcome to Via Verde Shop. At my farm in Michigan I raise alpacas and produce handmade products from the fiber my animals graciously give me each year. All of the yarns featured in my shop are dyed with natural dyes. I use plant dyes or Greener Shades dyes. All of my dyeing is quality controlled and I use only eco-friendly mordants in my plant dyes. I shear, skirt, clean, card, spin, dye all right here on our farm. Only my rovings are all commercially processed at a quality fiber mill.

My pacas are kept in clean paddocks and I do my utmost to keep debris out of their fiber. After all, they are animals and love to take a dust bath or roll in on the ground to scratch a pesky itch. Sometimes the inevitable vm clings to their fiber. I do skirt all of the fleeces and take my time doing so. I strive for very clean fleeces but vm happens!

BATTS: I card my batts on my Louet Jr. It holds about 1.1 oz per batt. Each batt collection I have ranges from 3-3 oz batts or 4-3 oz batts. I am a spontaneous carder and prefer to lay out the fiber and just grab. A batt collection contains all the same ingredients but not necessarily in the same order. I suggest when spinning the batts that you do so by pulling strips off of each batt and spin in a random order. Most of my batts are textured and will not give you a smooth spin.

ANGELINA: I have a lot of angelina on stock and you may request more than the quantity I have listed. Let me know if you wish for more of a specific color.

CARPET/MAT Care: The carpets and mats are durable but still need a bit of care. Each carpet is uniquely crafted from 100% alpaca fiber. The fiber is harvested and skirted in Michigan. All of our carpets are one of a kind.
Care: Spot clean with tepid water and a sponge. Please line dry. To prolong the use of the rug, do not dry clean or toss in the washing machine.
