About VibrantAfternoon
Colourful delights inspired by the joys of travel, global cuisines, and life itself.
I love creating, always have. Maybe it's the "memento mori" impulse to leave something of myself behind, or the pride in pointing to something and saying "I did that".
I painted digitally throughout high school and college, but only after spending 2 years on the JET Programme, teaching English in Hokkaido, did I realize my art could expand beyond the digital canvas.
I made books, washi tape, and "stamp" stickers with the photos I took while traveling Asia and Europe. I took up watercolours, and painted my favourite foods, which have become keychains, magnets and stickers. I dabbled in informal publications with zines and booklets. I've brought all of this to local Vancouver fairs including Canzine, Japan Market, Creative Chinatown, and Nikkei Centre markets.
No matter the medium, I hope my work lets you travel or eat vicariously, or perhaps reminds you of a positive memory. If I can make you think and/or bring you happiness, I'll be overjoyed. For now, I'll be over here trying to spend more "vibrant afternoons" creating whatever comes to mind next.
