A love of the beautiful and useful led me to creating with resin. The variations in tone and intensity keeps me coming back and experimenting. No two pieces are ever the same; they may be siblings but never identical twins. It's this slight element of unpredictability that keeps me creating, trying new things, trying new ideas!
Un-moulding each piece is a moment of intrigue to see whether my predictions about how all the different elements will combine was accurate or not. Often I'm pleased, sometimes surprised and on other occasions perplexed!
The four elements (earth, air, wind and fire) are a constant inspiration and all are present at the coast. They all appear in my work which is inspired by their contrast and harmony. The colours of a sunset over a beach, the crackle of a fire in winter, the swirling and dancing petal blossoms in spring and the russet, earthy tones of autumn.
I create the pieces at home under the watchful eye of my black lab and to the soundtrack (sometimes more harmonious than others...) of my boys. I understand the need for items in the home to have a purpose and be useful and not just extra clutter. Beautiful and useful aren't mutually exclusive and an item can serve a purpose whilst injecting a bit of beauty and personality into your home.
That's not to say that some items aren't purely decorative (Christmas, ahem); I just love making items that can be used, handled and become part of your life and routine. Items that your loved ones will remember you using and perhaps will be handed down or handed on with its own unique history created by you.
Each item listed is complete and ready to go; items like bookmarks or coasters can be personalised. If you have something specific in mind I'd love to have a chat with you and find out what you're imagining; we may be able to work together to turn your idea into a beautiful piece for your or your loved one's home.
