Welcome to my shop and thanks for stopping by!.

I live in Newfoundland, Canada, where warm, woolly items are a way of life. We have a long tradition of knitting, spinning and weaving here on The Rock (as we call it).

I work from my studio in Torbay, a small community on the coast of the Avalon Peninsula. The colours I use in my work reflect the world around me. You can see more of my life and work at

If you see something that you like in my shop, but need it in greater quantities, or if you want to get something that has already sold, please drop me a line. All of my dye jobs are documented rigorously and I am able to replicate results with fair accuracy. Due to the ephemeral nature of fibre and dye (and the fact that I am human), however, there may be slight variations between dye lots.

I am more than happy to dye up custom orders and to combine certain fibre types with specified colourways at your request. Again, it is important to note that variations may occur, since different fibres often take the dye differently.

Also, please note that colours on computer screens can vary somewhat and the actual colour of the fibre may be oh-so-slightly different in reality than on your monitor.

Returns and exchanges
If something doesn't meet your expectations, please advise me and we'll work out a satisfactory arrangement.

In general, my policy is for refunds to be issued if a product is grossly misrepresented (which would indicate a substantial mess-up on my part) or if the product is returned, in original condition, within seven days of receipt.

Postage will not be refunded in the case of a return, unless the reason is gross misrepresentation. Should this ever occur, I will be as upset as you.
I accept Paypal, cheques, money orders and, for local purchasers, cash.

Cheques and Money Orders should be made out to Vicky Taylor-Hood.

Shipment of product to folks using cheques and Money Orders will be delayed until the fund are received and cleared, unless I have an established business relationship with you. Exceptions will be on a case-by-case basis.
I ship via Canada Post. I normally put packages in the mail on the next business day. If there is a snowstorm or other impediment to my doing so, I will notify you of the delay.
Additional policies and FAQs
My studio is in a non-smoking home. I do have two border collies and a cat, but they are expressly forbidden from taking part in dyeing and wool play. Expressly. For so many reasons, most of which you can imagine.

Unless a fibre specifically states 100% superwash (or unless the fibre content is partially nylon) on the label, please wash fibres by hand in cool water and dry them flat. If you put them in a washing machine that agitates them, expose them to hot and then cold water or throw them in the dryer, they WILL felt. Felting makes things smaller, denser and often fuzzier.

Also, you should expect a small amount of dye discharge when you first wash your fibre. While every effort has been made to rinse the dyed fibre, there is inevitably a small amount of dye residue that will rinse out after spinning.
