vintagefriends' Shop Policies
Welcome to my store! Thank you so much for visiting.
\***PUTTING ITEMS ON RESERVE***\
I can reserve an item in the Etsy shop for you for up to 24 hours. Then, it goes back in the shop for someone else to purchase.
I accept Paypal orders and Direct Checkout, through which you can use a credit card.
Please pay within 24 hours of making your online purchase. Otherwise, I put the items back on display for someone else to consider. Items will be shipped within two business days of cleared payment.
Gift Certificates are claimed by the gift recipient by clicking "Other" as a Payment Option, since they have already been paid for by the gift giver.
Customers who live in California will be charged 9% sales tax during checkout.
Non-US customers note: all duties, taxes, tariffs, and customs fees assessed by your friendly customs agent are not my responsibility. Please be aware of the laws and fees associated with shopping abroad that your country deems applicable. On customs forms, I mark the package as "merchandise" and not as a "gift."
For purchases paid through Paypal, I ship to the address on your Paypal account. Purchases through Direct Checkout are made to the address you note on the Etsy purchase. Let me know if you want the item shipped to another address.
Items shipped to a United States address are shipped USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. You should receive your package within 3 business days.
\***OUTSIDE US SHIPPING***\
International shipments are made via First Class Int'l Mail and arrive within 10-15 business days. They do not include insurance. If you want your item insured during shipment, I send it out via Priority Mail International. (That costs approximately twice what First Class Int'l Mail costs.) If you country has a lengthy security process, it might take 3 weeks for you to receive your package, though it leaves the US very quickly.
--REALLY FAST SHIPPING
Please contact me with your postal/zip code. I will tell you the price for overnight and other shipping options before you make your purchase. (Etsy.com does not currently display multiple shipping options, but we will use Paypal to help with your transaction.)
SAVE MONEY ON SHIPPING - Buy more stuff!
If you purchase multiple items (from either of my stores!), I will re-weigh them in one package to save you money!
I wrap clothes in plastic gift wrap, and then put them either in a waterproof mailing envelope or in a box so you receive them in perfect condition. In the spirit of sustainability, I reuse like-new shipping materials when possible.
Delivery Confirmation is standard on packages I send within the US. If too much time has passed and you think your package has been lost in the mail, please contact me as soon as possible. International Packages are sent via First Class International Mail; it is impossible to track them once they have left the United States Postal service. For an additional shipping fee, International packages can be sent via Priority Mail, with insurance and tracking information (costs approximately twice the First Class fee). I've never had a package get lost!
Refunds and Exchanges
VintageFriends items are one-of-a-kind! They've had a life of their own, even if much of it was spent hanging around in a closet or two. They might show slight wear.
I select items for my shop that are in fantastic condition. However, vintage items are "as is," so there are no refunds, returns, or exchanges. I'm happy to provide more information on items, so just send me a convo.
My goal is to provide you with clear photographs and accurate descriptions and measurements on clothing and shoes so you know what you are purchasing.
(Please note that colors may vary from one computer screen to another. I will try to describe the colors in the descriptions, but don't hesitate to ask me for additional information.)
\***ITEMS DAMAGED IN TRANSIT***\
Unfortunately, if you receive your purchase and it was damaged en route, I can't easily replace it. However, if you promptly return the damaged item to me, I will give you credit to purchase a different item in the VintageFriends shop. (I do not cover the return shipping costs.)
If, for some reason, you aren't delighted with your purchase, please contact me before leaving a negative comment and I will do what I can to improve your experience! My goal is for all my customers to be very happy shopping at VintageFriends.
Additional Policies and FAQs
\***TWO GREAT SHOPS!***\
If you purchase items from either of my shops, I'll combine shipping costs (reducing the shipping price and I'll give your Paypal account a partial refund). Also, gift certificates for one shop can also be used in the other! http://www.etsy.com/shop/vintagefriends and http://www.etsy.com/shop/vintagejewelrygems
\***WHAT'S YOUR SIZE?***\
PLEASE NOTE! It appears there is no international "gold standard" for sizing shoes. I carefully measure shoes and try to list the various international sizes that seem to pertain to the pair you are looking at in my shop. However, it is critically important that you measure your feet and compare that to the measurements in the listing of the shoes.
Measuring your feet
Draw around them on a piece of paper or cardboard and write the measurements on the drawing (length, width). Use the measurements of your larger foot!
For clothing, please compare your actual measurements with the measurements that I take of the garments when they are laying flat.
(Older vintage clothes were originally designed to be worn with shaping garments, such as girdles and corsets. To be comfortable and not put strain on the seams of your garment, you'll need to allow for an inch or two of wiggle room between your measurements and those of the item you purchase. )
How to measure yourself
Take your measurements once, then write them down on a handy note card.
*BUST - The fullest part of the bust while wearing a good bra.
*WAIST - Your waist is next to your inner elbow when your arms are held at your sides. (Many clothes today are worn very low on the hips. Most vintage clothing was worn at the true waist!)
*HIPS - Measure the widest expanse around your hips and buttocks, level with your hip bones.
HEAD - To measure for a hat, use a flexible tape measure and look in a mirror. Measure the circumference of the widest part of your head, approximately an inch above the eyebrows.
